Have you ever made up your own phrases or terms?

In high school I started to say "(insert name here) got stuck in the mud" meaning they couldn't move fast enough. I used that phrase a lot in sports like when someone hit the ball and run, it take them like five seconds to start running.

I remember when I was 19 and when I worked at a thrift store, every time I come in, I'd see a mess and I would ask if there was a hurricane. What I meant was if they had lot of people come in and shop and they all dug through things and made a mess as they were looking.

Whenever I ride in the passenger's seat of a car with one other person (especially my mom) driving for long distances, I call it "Car Time". It's a shortened way of saying "spending quality time together in the car". Car Time is one of the best times for us to talk about our feelings because we're in such close proximity with the other person and it gives a sense of security and privacy because no one in other cars can hear what we're saying.

Also, every time it snows I say "Edward Scissorhands is making ice sculptures". If you don't know what that means, you need to watch the movie because I might spoil it if I explained it here.

I sometimes mix Polish and English words together by accident, like when I meant to say "latajace" which means something was flying and I said "flyjace" instead

I make up new words all the time.

"When I use a word, Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less. The question is, said Alice, whether you can make words mean so many different things. The question is, said Humpty Dumpty, which is to be master,that's all."

Most of my new words are jokes and tricks to make my children (and now my grandchildren) stop and think.
They are mind games and puns and mental jokes to make them see things in a different way.

when things are chaotic, i say "things are just peaches and scream."

I make up, but those words are only in Polish, so you won't understand what I mean.

I do it quite a bit. Sometimes made-up words are the only way to articulate exactly what you're thinking.

I find when talking through text I add "s" to the end of some words for no real reason. Also I make up words.

I've had a tendency to add "tastic" to the ends of certain words. Like if something is really awesome it becomes "Awesometastic"... sometimes "Awesometastical"
