Do you getting prefer gift cards or actual presents, and what type?

If it depends, don't vote, (It won't let me add an option) but explain it in a post.

I prefer something that's related to a special interest of mine. It's never happened yet, and I doubt that it ever will. I'll be buying myself a little something on Thursday.

I prefer to get DVDs, T-shirts and posters as presents.

Depends. If somebody knows what to give me, I prefer actual present and I'm happy.
If doesn't know and wants to give me another mug or sweater, I prefer gift card and I choose what I need.

I like gift cards, but usually I'll end up getting ones for different places, and it's never enough to get something I really want.

I once got a gift card for a music store...I got alot of cds but I would like to have been given the money. (is that bad?). . .
I like gifts.It gives me a better perspective on how people see me and my personalitie.

I couldn't answer the poll, because it really depends. If I were to buy a present for someone, and all I know about them is that they like to shop at JCPenney, then a gift card to that place should be a sufficient gift.

If I know the person well, or if they have stated exactly what they want for Christmas, then I could buy them an actual present.

I like presents. I don't care what they are I am not picky. Whether it cost One hundred pound, or a penny I would be happy, surprised and grateful. However, if somebody gets me something too special or personal sometimes I feel uncomfortable because I may not have got them something as personal myself.

I don't really get presents that often so it's nice when it happens.

I don't really like gift cards - they lack the specificness of a present, and they don't have the wide use that money has.

Gift cards are terrible gifts.

Giving someone a gift card is like giving them cash but only if they will use it at the location where you would prefer they spend it.

They also sometimes cost more than the cash they're bought with, because there can be an additional fee to get the card.

A lot of the time people will buy something with the gift card that doesn't cost as much as the gift card is worth. That leaves some money on the card, but it's not enough to get anything and it doesn't get refunded, so the company who sold the gift card gets to keep the extra money because of that.

If someone wants to get me a gift and knows exactly what I want I would prefer they buy it as a gift and if they don't I would prefer cash.

Gift cards are nice if their from a place that I actually shop at.
Presents are nice depending on what the gift is or if it's something I can easily return or a store that has something I'd want to exchange it for.
I'd rather if people didn't do that stuff at all because holidays are waaay to commercial & it would be a lot easier & cheaper for everyone to buy their own stuff instead of exchanging gifts.

Gift cards are good for me because I'm so freaking picky.

I voted for presents. Although, more often than not, I'm disappointed in presents I receive, I still like opening them. Opening a gift card can be so anticlimactic...
