How did you go about choosing the name that you use to post? or your avatar as well?

The name is largely irrelevant. The avatar is a visual representation of how I feel to me.

I chose the name IdahoRose because I used to think that was actually part of my real name when I was younger. Coincidentally, Idaho is where I've lived my whole life and Rose is my middle name.

I choose to use avatars of the Mad Hatter because he is my favorite character from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (and most other versions of Alice in Wonderland for that matter). In actuality I look and behave more like Alice herself.

My family has always had a dog of the fluffy variety. Those dogs have always been a great help to me in handling my emotional issues. A dog is (for me) a friendly being that gives support and does not expect anything in return but a little love.

So I chose my nick to have an emotional support dog with me on the forums and also as a personal hommage to those dogs that have helped me through such a lot of difficult moments.

The avatar is because I wanted something dog-themed but didn't have a pic the right size of our current dog and I didn't want to use anything that could lead to some kind of copyright infringement, so I just drew it myself.

Fluffy dogs like maltese, shih tzu, samoyeds?

I do love dogs but mostly West Highland White Terriers. I own one.

I like those dogs as well, but my family has always had some kind of shepherding dog. It used to be Tibetian Terriers, which are not terriers at all, but related to Lhasa Apsos. Now we have a mutt that is most likely 3/4 PON (polnish lowland shepherding dog) and 1/4 poodle.

West Highland White Terriers are nice, too, I like being around them and playing with them, but they tend to be more high-energy than fits into my family. We need a gentle, patient dog that can be taken along to my mother's office if none of us stay at home that day.

I just liked how my username looked, and I've used it for other things too.
I've chosen my current avatar because I like the way that looks as well.

I don't recall. It probably had something to do with a gateway for information to come gushing out. Or it could have had something to do with going white-water rafting. I think it is relatively simple but can convey something more. Sort of like me. :)

Valoyossa means "light in the night" in Finnish and it became something like my second name. Even my Mom or Aunt call me Valoyossa. People, who know me more, too. So it was obvious.

My current avatar: I feel and I was told that I'm automatic and like a robot. One girls calls me hey, bot!. And I love industrial and NDH music, so I chose Kraftwerk's picture.

Obviously different people will tell you their own ideas of how their name came about in this thread. So here is mine

Falcon Punch= Captain falcon's signature move

39= the number of books in the Old Testament

Happy Zombie avatar= I love the living dead movie series, and I was in the middle of a resident evil game when I posted it.
