There's a teacher who always addresses all the students as sir or ma'am. He's the LCC teacher at my school and I'm on the drill team, so I talk to him alot. Yesterday, the school was having an open house so I volunteered to tour the parents around (I got off lucky and the drill team members who were there went off in pairs so I wasn't all by my lonesome trying to figure how much to say about all the classes.) which meant there was practice until 5:30 and then the open school from 6:30 to 7:30. It was dark outside when all the parents left and one of the PTA members opened up a bag of chocolate and dum dums for us. I grabbed some kit kats and I was going to wait for the dum dums but they were having trouble opening the bag so I followed the teacher who was walking towards the exit because he wanted to wait outside since AC is nonexistent inside the building after 3:40.
We talked about school and how the drill team is slowly diminishing until the other cadets finally came from their candy trekking tour, where I said I'd start walking home and the teacher said he'd get his car from the back lot.
And then the next morning he calls me 'sweety'. He was at the door talking to one of the hall monitors (the absolutely evil one who made me have a fit in the cafeteria because he wouldn't let me go to the art room after I ate like I always do. 
) and I was coming up to the classroom after saying the pledge over the intercom.
I never know when I'm friends with someone until they spell it out for me, like how the teacher's daughter said "I know you and (insert other cadet's name here) are friends." when she was trying to get from under the sink in the classroom and I was all 'Friend! I have a Friend!' in my head. So... I'm guessing I'm friends with the teacher, which would be an absolute first, or second, I could be friends with my 6th S.S. teacher, I think. I have issues with authority and trusting teachers, yet if someone tells me what to do (clearly) I can go off and do it without over-thinking and getting myself in a mental pretzal.
Can you be friends with a teacher?
