Hello, everybody! Kyle "The Ghost" here!

I want to ask everyone here how they feel about cliffhangers. They are the endings in movies, books, and TV series that leave you hanging and you have to come back just so you can know how it ends. Like those multi-part episodes on the old 1960s Batman series. Cliffhangers are effective, but annoying. It drives me crazy! AARGHHHH!! Anybody else feel that way?

I like 'cliffhangers' as long as there will be DEFINATE continuation. Did you ever watch 'My Name is Earl'? They ended the entire programme on a massive cliffhanger, and they will never be making any more, so I had to make do with creating my own ending in my head. But I would much rather they made it for me.

Also it's annoying even if they do make more series / sequels afterwards, and they make you wait for months or even a year or so before they show more. A lot of shows and movies do that. But it can be quite exciting though, and more often than not I think it's worth the wait.

When I read a novel I expect it to be a self-contained story even if it is part of a series.

I HATE getting to page 453 to find that the author leaves the hero tied to a railway track or something.

They are alright in the media, but horrible in real life.

I hate when TV series end/get canceled with a cliffhanger ep like the last episode of Gary & Mike or DuckMan. I'm not a big fan of the movie Cliffhanger either

I like an ending with a little ambiguity instead of tying up all the loose ends, but if they ended a show with someone literally hanging from a cliff and didn't let you know how it ended, I would be annoyed. I don't mind suspense, but you shouldn't have to wait til next season either.

I like and dislike cliffhangers. I like them, especially if it's part of a series, but the wait is horrible.

I'm showing my age here but when I was a kid in the 60's there was the "Saturday afternoon matinee" at the local movie theater.

Two full length movies plus a newsreel, a couple of cartoons and a serial. The serial always ended with a cliffhanger to bring you back next week.
