Why do I pine for a past I never lived in?

I am 19 years old but I wish I was more of an 80s or 90s child. I barely remember the tail end of the 90s when I was 7 or 8 years old. I wish I had my own time machine or that one can be invented and break physics laws through a major spectacular consequence or something. Everyone I have talked to who was an older kid of the 90s or the 80s say their time was the best. This will be difficult to explain, but here:

1) In 1993, if I was able to understand TV at least a little bit by then, I can see shows like the original Sonic The Hedgehog on ABC Saturday Mornings. Looking back, One Saturday Morning wouldn't sound that great compared to prior (former debuted in 1997).

2) I was more socially "naive" in the 90s as a young kid then now, I couldn't go to the movies or do certain other things, etc. either due to sensory issues or otherwise.

3) I wish things (even small things) that went away in the 90s could've stayed.

4) Hills, from people who grew up with it, could've been and probably was, an extremely popular department store until the late 90s. I only got the experience from shopping there when I was very small, and I read posts like "Why can't stores today have that or a good snack bar, etc." it makes me so angry and upset. That store could seem to be better than anything today. Sure, Target has a snack bar, but it wouldn't be the same.

5) I could've seen cool movies in the 90s first hand, if I was not so overly prudent and moral. You may laugh, but I was a goody two-shoes as a young lad, but there were some movies that I can watch that I didn't because of that on my part.

6) I wish I lived through more of VHS. Now that awesome VHS store in town is replaced by DVDs.

7) Sometimes I get a feeling that businesses are being intentionally "We want to deliberately cause global unemployment so these suckers suffer through misery by advancing tech and caring nothing about nostalgic people, haha!"

8 ) I wish I could've been around earlier because I can have my rightfully-deserved dream part-job as a projectionist before digital is halfway taking over.

9) Even little things (school bells rather than intercom bells, for instance, and old businesses), I really either miss or wish could've stayed.

Am I too clouded by these people's minds. Should I go talk to somebody?

I don't know, but you've managed to make me feel old.

I remember Hills.
