What's a pingtest, you ask.. or, what.. does ping mean?

Well, ping is how long it takes data to travel from your computer to a server and back. And here goes.. the lower the ping value the faster the internet responses are..

Following link tests how fast, or responsive, your internet connection, via your provider, is..

http://www.pingtest.net/

It varies a little over time (um, did four tests.. and all went a little worse.. in the last hour measured.. but.. ).. but.. at the moment my 'scores' are..

What is jitter? Um, where ping says something about the time it takes for a 'packet' of data to travel from your computer to a server and back (to your computer).. jitter says something about little variations (or displacements) signals can meet on the 'journey' between e.g. a server and one's computer. Lots of little 'disturbances' along the way means more jitter and likely a higher ping/longer travelling time. Whilst surfing the net this may affect the processor of s/o computer a little and may cause a little hick-up or flicker of the monitor.

(mmmm, not sure.. but I hope this explains it a bit.. )

Um, my test result now..

I think the net is better at night than the day. My 1st one was around 9 at night & I tested a couple times & things were similar. I tested around 1;30pm a couple times & it went form an A to a B. Doesn't surprise me thou considering internet is used more during the day & the electromagnetic-waves or gravity from the sun might have an effect on it. I know radio signals come in better at night than the day. BTW i still don't know what Jitter is

I scored a B, however.. My router is over 6 years old and I also have many things going. Perhaps I could improve it.

Random question I just thought of. Does the speed package you have make a difference on these test :?: I have the maximum plan which is about 16mb & when I run speed test on a site; I'm lucky to half that.

The router can make a lot of difference sometimes. If it's over 6years old I'm guessing it probably communicates with the comp at MB speed instead of gig. If your network card is gig & your modem is gig; the router will defiantly be reducing your performance

I got in the 30s. Surprising as I thought we had really slow internet here.
