Sounds like an overreaction.

I keep a copy of the Dungeon Master's Guide (AD&D 1st edition) where I can grab it just before I answer the door, and I keep the front cover prominently displayed while they make their sales pitch. Then I smile, say "No thank you" and "Blessed be" just before I close the door. Here's what they see...

Funny, they don't seem to bother my house, all the cars have fish emblems and Jesus stickers, and my church gives us all yard signs to "invite" the ChrEasters to come for the big holidays.

Unless the knockers were 2 young men on bicycles wearing white dress shirts, OP may have erroneously failed to title the thread more appropriately "Stupid kingdom hall people"

That looks like a composite of several Black Sabbath album covers, most notably 'Paranoid' and 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath'

It's the 1979 cover by David C. Sutherland III.

Answer the door wearing nothing but an open bath robe. Act like nothing is amiss.

Anyone who goes around knocking on doors should expect to catch a few people at the wrong time, right?

My Mum doesn't like that, especially since she's a Pagan.

Though I understand and respect feeling that they are into your personal space, they are doing what they believe is offering the best thing in the world to people.
Both the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses have been persecuted for their beliefs and practices, and I respect that their groups still exist, considering the costs that they have paid.
The Nazis nearly exterminated all German Witnesses, and many of the first generation Mormons were publically tortured, Their prophet was murdered in a jail cell.
I want people to accept me and my odd personality and neurological differences, and I try to accept other people and their differing opinions.

If they upset you, then don't answer the door. If you're lonely, answer the door and listen politely but don't make any commitments, they'll be back over and over again to visit you.
The Missus likes to debate them point for point on theology right out of the Bible. They almost never come to our door.
In case you don't know, both groups keep a notebook of houses visited and your reaction. That's why they don't visit us.

Just had the Mormons at the door. Nice pair of lads. I just told them I was Anglican (well, raised that way, not exactly practising) and they apologised for disturbing me and wished me a nice day.

I used to live with a housemate who was a disfellowshipped JW, she told the Witnesses that when they visited us and we never saw them again!

If I know they're around I don't answer the door, one time they were around and the body corporate lady told them that this is private property and they were to get off she even made sure they left.

I'd treat them like any other person trying to sell me something. I'd either not answer the door or say, "sorry, I'm not interested" and shut the door and go back in.

None ever came to my house but we keep getting ones that want us to change our utility company.

Next time ask them if they're "Jew-hovah's Witnesses". :lmao:

Sylkat I like this attitude, if more people had that kind of respect there would not be war...

Unlike my fundamentalist mom (who's a fantastic person by the way) I don't like to judge people or say they are mistaken or "evil" because its not my place to say so. The only measure should be how they treat others - including animals - actions speak louder than words anyway.
