I'm getting my braces off in 3 days! I HATE them. :evil: :x *ominous music as lost souls swirl around Spazzergasm*

Congratulations!

I remember braces with a certain unfondness, but I found the retainer harder to deal with actually. So if that's part of your planning, best of luck, and don't skimp. I've seen too many teenagers who disregarded the retainer and found that 4 years later their teeth were in the same bad positions.

I'd rather have the retainer. I'm sick an tired of having these rubber bands that turn yellow almost immediately. It's disgusting. And I can't wait until I can brush my teeth in a way that feels thorough to me, again.

Yeah i got mine off about that age too. you're gonna feel so weird for a month or so and slimy. youll get used to it.

You don't need braces, Chrissyrun. :) I noticed you have those adorable little "fangs" I think look good on people.

What is meant by I will feel "slimy"?

Sensory issues? I've never had them still at my age but I'm going to get them invisible ones - Invisalign. Anyone have any experience with that type?


Yup, and I already have problems when I get sores in my mouth, I've heard braces are notorious for those. Plus the thought of having a retainer FOR LIFE is too much commitment for me. I wanted to get invisalign since I heard about it at 12. My parents were against the idea. I asked my dentist, and he said it would be fine, but noooo, the orthodontist knows better(not that he would have anything in it for him). I said I would pay for it with my own money at 16 (because of the allotment I got). NO. Annoying. Now, I honestly don't care. If it gets so horrible, I might consider getting it on my own, but doubt it.

You have to have it in your mouth for some time, and then you must wear it at night for the rest of your life. Sounds like such a pain.

No, I have family members in their 40's that still wear them at night.
