Who had gastroscopy?

I will have to undergo this unpleasant procedure in some time Is there anyone who also did? What were your feelings on this? Was it THAT unpleasant? I think I have stomach ulcers but it has to be checked.

If that is what we call in the States an endoscopy, I have. I had an upper endoscopy last year. It was very uncomfortable, but not horrible or painful. My advice would be not to worry about it but to try to relax and focus instead on how interesting it is. It's uncomfortable, yes, but seeing one's insides is very neat. I hope it turns out well for you.

Recently, I was doing my best to put it away in time for like 2 months, but now, after I got diarrhoea yesterday again, now I came to the conclusion I wouldn't have anything against getting one even if I were to get it today - there must be something wrong with my intestines; during last two months I got diarrhoea thrice. And I want to get one as soon as possible. I also have problems with my lymph glands; they hurt whenever I touch them and in 2 days I'll get ultrasonography to check what it is.

I had it today - a very unpleasant experience indeed. And, to boot, there was that disgusting feeling of something crawling inside my intestines - like I was having there a maggot of an alien from the Alien movies. And this dumb doctor who was doing this to me, was very unpleasant too - I think he watched the adventures of dr. House too many times and decided to be his real life version Really. He was asking me about private things not having anything to do with my intestines. But at least the result was good - no ulcers. I excreted gastric acid in excess and that's all. He said that's just nerves.

Endoscopic procedures from the "other end" (colonoscopy) are typically done under full anaesthesia to spare the patient the experience of having a metal probe inserted several hundred meters up their butt. I wonder why they don't offer this with gastroscopy?

They do, I read, but it's rare - that's offered only, I think, in case of young children. Maybe it depends on the country because this stupid and insolent doctor didn't want even to give me analgesia and I had to repeat my request a couple of times until I was given it. This narcissitic idiot who kept boasting about his gifted son who can't find a job because they don't need such highly qualified specialists as he is and his new hot wife he has now, after he got rid of the previous one due to the fact she was a schizophrenia sufferer, said that it isn't done even in Japan during gastroscopy, let alone in Poland.

No form of anaesthetic at all when I had colonoscopy done. Mind you, by the time the enema has finished with you, you're sufficently sore that the camera end isnt so bad after all. And after the frst few centimetres you have no nerve endings on the inside anyway, so you only feel the (narrower) tube behind the camera, or when they nudge up against an organ (which does hurt).
It's certainly uncomfortable, but bar the initial entry of camera it's not painful.
