I have dreams about hiding from gunfire, home invasions, and such. You?

I especially would like to hear supernatural nightmares, like ghosts.

About a year ago, I don't remember exactly when, I had a really disturbing nightmare.
I was in a old condemned building and it collapsed around me and I went down with it.
Then after I crawled out from the rubble, I was being chased by what I call Frankenstein zombies, they we're all harvesting body parts and grafting them on to each other. It was an extremely graphic dream, it made movies like Hostel & Saw look tame by comparison. I managed to get away without harm, but it was terrifying.

I used to have this recurring dream when I was around 6 or 7. I would be in my bedroom, then I would shrink and there would be these little demon things on the floor, but I couldn't see them very well since the only light came from under the door to the hallway. That's all I can remember, I know there was more to the dream, but I just can't recall, nor do I know what exactly made me scared. I just remember the fear that dream gave me, it still frightens me a little just thinking about it even though I can't remember what I'm afraid of.

I have nightmares every night (when I dream).

Most are based on reality, PTSD, though some lately are the usual loss of someone. I've gotten used to the former, and I'm sure I'll get used to the latter.

Pretty boring, really.

However, there's always that recurring one I have that's not based on reality where I'm being hunted by an invincible entity that kills all, and I'm the last left; I usually awake when I die. It's a shape of a large, shadowed human. Kinda easy to interpret, i.e., the inevitability of it all.

i rarely have nightmares. the nightmares i do occasionally have (about 1 every 2 years) however are horrible. they are usually about cataclysmic events, but one was a ghostly event and a few were about precarious and dangerous situations. i will list 3 that come to mind because they were the worst nightmares i can remember.

---------------
cataclysm.

i was preparing to go to bed and tammy was already in bed and i was sleepy and groggy and it was about 3 am. i closed the blinds and switched off the light, and it was pitch dark, but as i was lying down, i noticed that it seemed to be getting light outside, and i was puzzled for a few seconds, and then it grew rapidly brighter outside until it was at least 20 times as bright as noon in summer.

it got so bright that the timber awnings and shutters burst into flames, and through the slats of the blinds, the light was so bright that i had to shut my eyes. even though my eyes were shut, it still looked brightly white and i put my hands over my eyes to protect them.

then the light subsided to a degree where i could open my eyes and then open the blinds, and i saw the light was coming from over the horizon, and i suddenly realized that the earth had been struck by an asteroid.

for some reason, i calculated that the impact was 7,000 miles away, and it was much bigger than the chixulub asteroid (an asteroid similar in size to mt everest), and i realized then we were not going to survive.

tammy was freaking out and i seemed to have a calming influence on her and i said "shhhh...no need to worry...it will be quick".

there was no sound and all seemed to be relatively peaceful except for my burning house, and the trees outside were also burning.

then i suddenly felt as if i was in an elevator that was very rapidly accelerating upwards, and i felt like i weighed 3 times what i weigh (3g) , and then it stopped accelerating upwards, and i then felt weightless for an instant, and then me and tammy hit the ceiling as if the elevator suddenly rocketed back downwards.

there was an oscillation of diminishing severity for about 30 seconds, and i knew that in a few more seconds we would be gone.

i woke up then because my mind could not process what i knew was going to happen within a few minutes (air blast of more than 6,000 mph which is instantaneously annihilating of everything (let alone what would happen after that (ejecta etc)).

i was trying to be calm and accept that it was the end, but my heart was squashed in the grip of terror.

--------------
2. evil ghosts (pffft).

a few months after my mother died, i had a dream where i woke up and she was sitting in a chair beside my bed. she was darning socks, and i rubbed my eyes and thought "this must be a dream".

i thought i would test if it was a dream by getting up and touching things i saw, and seeing whether they felt real. i rapped my knuckles on the piano and it was solid and real. i grabbed an empty bottle of fanta and it felt as i expected it to feel. i grew to realize i was really awake, and so i got back into bed and i said "i thought you were dead!?".

she said "no it was a mix up."

me: huh? but you have not been home all this time and we all believed you had died.
her: they put the wrong name tag on me. i can assure you i am alive and well.
me: so why did you not tell us?!?!
her: because i was taken to another hospital to recover, and i had no access to a phone.
me: that seems incomprehensible to me. does dad know you are still alive?
her: no. i have not told him yet.
me: why?!?!?!? he is sick because he thinks you are dead!! !
her: i will tell him soon.
me: i have to ring him now and tell him!
her: i wouldn't do that if i were you....

i knew my mother would never act that way, and i looked carefully at her, and i suddenly realized her teeth were different, and the hairs on the back of my neck instantly rose up and i saw the most frightening thing i have ever seen... she was a fraud and i screeched like a fighting cat with my eyes rolled back at her and i truly woke up then, and i was so relieved it was a dream.
by george it took a lot out of me that dream did.

----------
precariousness...

i dreamed that i returned to my childhood home to retrieve some vital things i needed (i have no idea what they were, but it was vital that i retrieved them)

i was inside the house which seemed long abandoned, and it was about to fall down.
the main problem was that it was perched on the side of a cliff that abutted a very turbulent ocean slamming the rocks below with very large waves.

the main corridors of the house were blocked because the ceiling had fallen in, and i had to find alternative ways to get to the basement. in the dream, the house was 5 storeys high (my childhood house was three storeys nowhere near any cliffs).

i had to climb down the chutes for the dumb waiters, and i was terrified of falling. when i was on about the 3 floor, i felt the house suddenly rock and weaken (it was very dilapidated, and merely my weight was enough to tip it into a collapse (i felt)). i was seized in terror. i wondered whether i should continue down, or go back up and get out, because the house was tipping in the direction of the cliff, and i would fall with it if it collapsed.

i stopped moving, and i could not decide what was the best course of action, because if i went down, i may upset vital reinforcing beams that were crumbling, and if i went back up, i may place too much top heavy weight on it that would cause the house (that was now weaker) to topple over (since i heard snapping and damage sounds on my way down which indicated to me that the house was not as strong now as when i first entered it from the top floor).

that was a very serious dream as well.
_____________

i do not know what caused those dreams as i was otherwise happy when i had them.

Nightmare about ghosts?! I have one!

When I was much younger, I had a dream that the ghost busters made me an honorary member. We went to go trap a giant slime ghost that was haunting an abandoned factory, but just as I went to open up the ghost trap the ghost ate me :( . That dream terrified me for months, but looking back on it I find it really funny lol.

I don't have a secific nightmares, but that are always themes of running, falling and getting lost on most of my normal dreams, though about once every six months or so, I'll have a really vivid dream that I can recollect in great detail for the next few months at least.

That IS funny! heh heh.

I'll share a weird one I had. I had a dream I was at this party and I saw this UFO over the front lawn. I went in the backyard to warn everyone, but they were too drunk and high to care. I heard the door bell and I looked through the front door peephole. It was the aliens. They were stereotypical grey aliens. I panicked and jumped the backyard wall, and can't remember what happened after that. It seems comical telling it here, but in the dream I was deathly afraid.

A few nights ago, I had a dream that my dad cut open the side of my left hand with a butcher knife. Later on that night I had a different dream that included me suffocating inside a giant bubble.

Last night I had several dreams, one of which included me being some kind of magical creature and going on a journey with Spike from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The scary part is that at one point we both became infected with a parasite that caused green, pus-filled boils to show up on our skin. We were never cured of it, and after our journey was over, the ending implied that we might die from it.

I am not good at remembering dreams. I do recall saving some little kid from a burning house fire after going through all this heavy smoke and climbing out a window down the exterior side of the home and dropping down before collapsing. But instead of being happy, everybody was furious with me for saving him. I ended regaining my breath enough to make a run for it. I don't recall much that happened after that beyond people looking for me, but not recognizing me as the person they were looking for. Weird, huh.

I have post traumatic stress dreams too.

My dreams involve being tortured by the kids that bullied me 10 years ago.
In some dreams my family betrays and tortures me.

When I was a small child I had a reoccurring dream of being chased by skeletons that wanted to murder me.

All of my dreams are so violent. 8O

I had a dream that a morbidly obese friend of mine passed away.

I had a couple that should have been scary, but were not. In one, I was being gang-raped by four Hispanics. In another, I got shot in the head, twice.
