“A leatherback’s tale” part 1 is a beautiful and touching story about a leatherback sea turtle. With cute illustrations it tells the story of Lucy Leatherback from the day she hatched to the day she returns to the shore to lay her own eggs, and the dangers she faces in between.
“A leatherback’s tale part 2: Lucy and the oil disaster” is a haunting and heartbreaking story about how the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico affected Lucy and other turtles.
I’m not the least ashamed to admit that part two made me cry, and that even part 1 made my eyes sting.

These two books are short but wonderful gems and a must read for turtle friends. I highly recommend them.
Proceeds go to Sea Turtle Restoration Project www.seaturtles.org and Save Our Leatherbacks Operation http://saveourleatherbacks.org/

man is not only inhumane to other men but also to the rest of creation. at least lucy was able to follow her natural life path [and elude predators] long enough to reproduce.
