Why do people sit near you?

why is it, when you go out for something quiet to eat in a nice quiet place somebody always comes and sits at the table next to you? even when the place is empty, they just have to sit at the next table. why?

when i go on a bus and its full nobody will sit next to me even if the only empty seat is next to me. why do they do this but yet in an empty restaurant they sit right next to me?

Lol, everybody seems to rather avoid me in public, the only people stalking me are old people, because they need to use someone as their "talktoy".

thats exactly what i mean. people always avoid me like the plague but when i want to go somewhere thats quiet then people start sitting next to me.

Nobody ever sits by me, unless they know me. I've been told I tend to look mean or pissed off... but I'm actually just uncomfortable and grumpy and would rather be at home. xD

People are so damn contradictive it gives me the flying turds.

yeah my girlfriend says i always look angry. its not anger its just a frown that i always have on my face due to the mega-sized amounts of processing i have to do with my brain.

People, by nature, are more social while eating. Even if they never glance in your direction or exchange pleasantries, sitting near someone in an empty restaurant gives them a sense of sociability.

At least, that's my theory.

At sit down restaurants, I have noticed that even if the restaurant is totally empty, the hosts/hostesses, always put you near other people. I remember once, there was a huge party of little kids and there were very loud, and the hostess put us in the same area as they were and the whole restaurant was empty. She did move us when we asked her to though.

I have noticed that if there are several seats on the bus, but no seats where people can sit by themselves (wherever they sit, they are going to sit beside someone), people will always end up sitting next to me. When this happens, it's usually a woman. My mom said that women sometimes feel more comfortable sitting next to other females rather than males on public transit. So maybe that's why? Still, there are other women on the train.

I am probably more of an "overly smiley" aspie rather than a "grumpy-looking" or "blank expression" aspie. Everyone says that I smile a lot. Maybe people sit next to me because I am a happy-looking person?
