Haha about the drinks. I think it should be mixed drinks though.
I'm anglo (British), Mexican (Spanish and North American Indigenous), and Native American. I don't know if Mexican and Native American should be two distinct races, but the govt. makes the distinction in ethnicity forms and many Americans fail to draw the connection between some typical non-anglo "Mexican" features (like dark skin and black, straight hair) and common features of the Indigenous people of North America. According to the Mexican govt. census of 1921 29% of Mexicans were Native American and 59% were a mix of NA and white.
I always have to choose between these ethnicities on govt. forms:
a) White (non-Latino)
b) Native American (non-Latino)
or
c) Latino
So I guess I'm just Latino.
I have dark hair and eyes, light skin, and freckles.
Mexicans and Native Americans certainly share a lot of common ancestry, but I think there is enough distinction between the two groups to count them as seperate ethnicities. First being that the average Mexican has far more European ancestry than the average Native American. And there are so many, and their culture is distinct enough from the two races they are descended from, that it becomes useful to think of them as their own, relatively new, race rather than just thinking of them as a mix.
Father's people are Mexican, mother's are Russian Jews with a few other kinds of white mixed in. I look entirely white until you put me next to my mother's side of the family, I have brown eyes while they all have blue, and my skin and hair are a few shades darker.
