Now that the fourth of July is over, there are always some people who keep setting off noisy firecrackers. Last night they were doing so, and now today. They are not really loud, but the unexpectedness is annoying. I don't mind a nice fireworks show, but after that I don't really want to hear any more popping and banging for a whole year. Anyone else?

Indifferent. They can be fun, and useful, but usually not. There's one day a year when people are allowed to use them in the Netherlands, and I participate in that. You can also set off skyrockets, mortar-like fireworks, roman candles, 'firework fountains', mats with thousands of firecrackers and pots that fire several springloads dozens of feet into the air, and occasionally fall over, causing people to run for higher ground or behind walls. When you're used to that, and the military-grade fireworks occasionally smuggled in from Belgium, a firecracker isn't really intimidating anymore, even if it completely surprises you.

Can't say I'm a fan. I like them far away but closer it feels like someone's gonna set their house on fire, lol.

I like them from a distance, but I don't like it when the kids in my area keep setting them off for a week.

Where I live a large contingent of people observe Tet, and I'm always forgetting when it falls during the year, sometimes I think it's twice. At least that's all they set off, OTOH I have morons somewhere a few doors down randomly firing anti-aircraft ordnance at the moment. Getting the police to do their job is useless, though technically the BATF is supposed to handle them, know any good ways to let them know they're violating the PATRIOT act?

I'll admit it. I like things that go boom (or crack, for that matter).

Fireworks is something that is fun to do when you're a kid, and I would hate to ruin the experience for any kids now by complaining. It is really too dry from all the heat now to be using them around here with the potential of causing widespread fires.

Fireworks are nice, though some can be unnecessarily too loud for me. I'd like to be able to stare at fireworks in peace without having to jump up my seat every minute or so.

I like those Chinese firecrackers too. I remember how a some people at school who didn't celebrate Lunar New Years were complaining about how they couldn't get any sleep because the Asians kept setting off firecrackers.

The actual things that you set on fire and throw are kind of fun, except I had a bad experience where one blew up in my hand. Also, I accidentally set off a whole package of bottle rockets at once. Luckily I was at the lake so I just jumped in the water to escape.

What I can't stand are those little paper things people throw. I think they're called poppers. People used to throw them at me on purpose when I was a kid. Oh, but someone I know did do a funny thing with them. She put them under the toilet seats where she worked. She even tested it herself to make sure they wouldn't burn anybody. Unfortuantely, her first (and only) victim was an elderly lady who nearly passed out on the floor!

Fireworks are nice to see however once they go on for a long time it gets rather annoying.
