From the 1991 film City Slickers:

Quote:
Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is?
[holds up one finger]
Curly: This.
Mitch: Your finger?
Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don't mean ----.
Mitch: But, what is the "one thing?"
Curly: [smiles] That's what *you* have to find out.

That 'one thing'? It's the most important thing in our lives. As in, the meaning of your life, in general.

I technically have a tie for this. It's either love or enlightenment; the latter being a representation of my knowledge of esoteric information. I'm pretty encyclopedic.

I don't know what's most important to me. Unless I've experienced everything there is to experience, it's impossible to say. At the moment I'd say love, but who knows.

I'm not sure myself. It might be something around: "be true to yourself" or something like that.

Being myself no matter who tries to thwart me is the one thing in my life that makes me happy.

I'm going to sound cliche, but my partial boyfriend is the "one thing". He means and a lot to me and makes me so happy.

It's been a very long time since my last relationship.

I've heard that only when you achieve enlightenment you find out what genuine true love is and vice versa - you can achieve enlightenment when you learn to love everyone and everything indiscriminately. So the two are not only connected, but also dependable on each other.
But I don't know enough about it yet.

The one thing for me? Hmm... The more practical answer is family. The deeper answer would be self-realization and achieving my potential.

Not being pressured to seem more NT. Being free to be myself.

I guess the most important thing in my life is to feel loved and wanted, not just by my family, but by friends as well. I have a history of depression and low self-esteem, so that's one likely reason for it.

My "one thing" in life is my imaginary world and its inhabitants. They are my everything. People in my life will come and go, physical objects will be given and taken from me, but the one thing that no one can take away is my own private world.

The motivation to keep myself alive no matter how horrible things get and no matter how suicidal I feel. There's so much beauty in the world I haven't seen that I need to experience.

The one thing in my life that defines me? I make it, I don't find it.
