There was a hit and run wreck at the end of my street earlier. Every cop in the county is down there. It apparently takes six cops to write that up. Well, correction, WB isn't down there but we have two county, two from my town, two from the town right next to mine which has my mailing address but not my physical address.

I had to go to the grocery store and so I got my husband to drive me (they know I don't have a license and they usually leave me alone but if I drove past that then that would be rubbing their noses in it so I won't do that, it's rude) and we stopped as we were coming back and asked what was going on. They told us and I asked who did it and they told me, and I said why in the world would he run off since everybody knows he did it and one cop said he probably had something on him and would rather get the hit and run than drug charges.

They are still down there. This is probably the biggest crime of the week so far. Everybody wants to get in on it. Kind of like Alice's Restaurant lol.

Ahh ... the classics ...

Well, it's a big deal lol! A hit and run! Our cops mainly just sit up at the 24 hour convenience store and talk to people and eat. There isn't much to do in a town that doesn't have much crime. So when there is a crime, an interesting crime, they all show up to see whats going on. When me and my husband have got in a fight and one of us called them, several of them show up. Even the one I can't stand and I just won't let him in the house because it's none of his business and he can go stick his nose somewhere else but he needs to keep it out of my business. See, in a small town you can do that kind of thing. It would not fly in Bham. They would kick the door in and arrest me. Here, the guy just walks off and says "OK, OK, damn, you ain't gotta be ugly about it!" Another perk about cops and small towns is that every time I've been arrested, I've told them to call this one particular one that's nice to arrest me. I told them "I'm not going anywhere with you, you need to call Seth!" (not his real name) and so they do because if they don't it'll just be a fight and more crap and they don't have anything else to do so even if he's not working he comes over and walks me to the car and drives me to the jail. No handcuffs, no back seat usually. They are nothing if not polite.

You can also call them to do things for you, like once I got a bird in the house when I had left the windows open without screens. This was years ago and the kids were younger and it was freaking my youngest out and I couldn't catch it to make it go out and it wouldn't go out the door, so I called the cops. The two on duty came over and came in and waved pillowcases at it until it flew out the door. Another time right after we first moved here before they cut the woods down behind us, we had a deer in our backyard. We have a fence and all but it jumped it and came in. We had different dogs then too. We could not get it out, so I called the cops to see if they could get it out. We had just moved from Bham so I was thinking they would send some kind of animal control officer out and use one of those poles with the loop on it and catch it and take it back to the woods. I was wrong. One of them shot it then went and got his truck to take it home after his shift. He thanked me. I was in shock.
