Does anyone else hate New Year's Eve?!

Such a cringeworthy waste of time; pointless, ridiculous, pathetic reason for people to get together and pretend that just because the earth has completed another orbit around our Star; logged by the difference of one digit at the end of the year that something will be different, or that they have "a fresh start" at something. BS - no clean slate, all debt, health issues, problems are completely unaffected by the start of a New Year. I hate it!

For me, it's an excuse to run a marathon AD&D session, eat home-made pizza, drink a little champagne, and have a little nice-nice with my wife.

I make it fun!

Fair point; I was referring more to having to hear/see people talking about it, going on about what they're doing, where they're going etc - it's an evening no different to any other; I just particularly dislike what goes along with it. What particularly gets me is being asked what I'm doing; when I reply "nothing", with the addition of an explanation as to why not, people always say "Well, it's an excuse to get drunk/have a party...etc" . . . I make any evening good by spending quality time with me children and/or partner, or even just enjoying my own company watching Movies, playing PS4, or just making the most of not having to be at work...

It's a waste of energy to celebrate. It's basically celebrating the calendar changing from one day to another. Why don't we celebrate the change of the day from June 30th to July 1st? I used to celebrate New Year's Eve. I guess I have gained perspective over the years.

I wouldn't say I hate New Year's Eve but I don't like being reminded that I have wasted another year and time is running out. In that sense it's a bit like my birthday when I get reminded that time is running out.

Yeah, I find it hard to find a true reason for celebrating the beginning of a new year. Could it be a celebration for having managed to be still alive?
