Ok, so this about nose picking. If you are queasy or uneasy discussing BOOGERS 👃, then turn back now.

Otherwise, read on and PLEASE weigh in . . .

Say you are a child living with an adult who picks his nose aggressively and incessantly (read: all the time). The nose-picking consists of (warning: graphic description follows) a pinky shoved entirely up a nostril while vigorously digging around for, let's say, a prize. 😕

When the "prize" is *ahem* retrieved, this adult wipes it onto his shirt, pant leg, or the arm of the furniture in which he is seated. You recoil, protest, make a face, and/or leave the room.

Now, the other (non-nose-picking) adult reprimands you for being disrespectful, saying "all men pick their noses" (even though your experience does not support this), and suggests if you TRULY loved this adult (which you do), you would overlook his behavior.

No-one else in the house is repulsed enough to speak up, and you are not allowed to. You must live out your childhood in this home, but are truly repulsed by this. You can barely manage to be in the same room without feeling disgusted, even infuriated. 😖

But you also feel bad about your reaction, and wonder what's wrong with you. Why are you the only one that is bothered by this???

You are becoming convinced either everyone else is under reacting, or you are just a BAD person.

What would you do? How should the adults have responded? Do you think nose picking is something people should be discreet about, even at home among family? Or would you just laugh it off?

Stick your nose in. Go ahead and be the booger person. Do snot be shy.

I think it's a very bad habit for anyone to get into. Either the boogers get pushed up into our sinuses or else we could end up with some very bad nosebleeds.

Thanks, and I'm aware of the health related implications (that was never an issue, although if it had been, maybe it would've put an end to it). 😊

I am looking for opinions on how others would've coped with the situation. And how others think the adults should have handled it.

You see, I was demonized as a kid for objecting to my dad's nose picking, and I want to know how other people would have coped with it.
