I just wasted 6 eggs, trying to fry them, and they ended up being burnt. The first time, too high, so I put it on medium, the yolk never dries, and end up being burnt on the bottom again.

I just leave them sit, I break the yolk.

The secret is to use the lowest heat possible and give it more time.

If you want the yolks to get done, you pretty much have to flip them over.

A better way to get the yolks done without burning the eggs is to put a lid on top of the frying pan for the last one or two minutes on a very low light.

Maybe your friend gave you defective eggs.

1.heat pan on low heat with no oil or butter.
2.when pan has heated for 3 or 4 minutes, add butter or oil and cover bottom of pan.
3.add egg(s).
4.let cook a couple minutes without lid.
5. Cover with lid but leave one edge cocked open a little for steam to escape, cook for a minute or two with the lid on the pan.
6.uncover and remove eggs from pan by first loosening all around the edges and then carefully sliding a thin spatula underneath.
Hope this helps. Eggs are touchy and cook very fast even on low.

Yep. Eggs that are fried on only one side are sometimes known as "sunny side up." If you have a nonstick pan and a good spatula it's much easier to flip them over.

I haven't tried TallyMan's advice, but it sounds like a good idea.

Like Tallyman I use the lid technique. I do more or less the same as Alpineglow.

I place a non-stick frying pan on the heat with a small egg cup under the handle tipping it slightly. I then add a drop of oil and heat the pan. I previously will have cracked an egg into a wine glass so when the oil becomes hot I tip it in to the lowest part of the tipped pan. After a minute or two of high heat I place lid on the frying pan and turn the heat off. After 4-5 minutes remove the lid and you have a lovely soft fried egg.

I use an egg poacher and steam them for 7 minutes. Perfect every time.

I never flip the eggs over. Fill a teaspoon with hot oil from the frying pan, and drip it over the egg yolk about ten times, or as many times as it takes. This should do the trick!

I did it!

I think I did well, compared to yesterday. It was a little messy, but I think the frying pan was too big.
I put coconut oil on first, I just read that someone suggested not to do that first. I'm glad I did well. :)

It's no yolk, shelling out for more eggs; you just needed egging on. :P Glad it worked out at last, sunny side up :D
