I saw two adult Bald Eagles today the first I had ever seen in my town. They are somewhat rare in Ct and I have traveled to the two places in Ct you can usually see them before but never expected them so close to home.

That's neat... what were they doing?

There is a park here where I occasionally see white cranes (rare around here).

They were standing on a sand bar in the Housatonic River. One took flight the other stayed there as I watched him through binoculars for about 5 minutes. It was just South of the Route 15 bridge near where they make the Blackhawk helicopter so it is not some far from civilization type place.

I've seen them a few times over at Richmond, Indiana/Ohio (the town is split between the states). The only big bird I really see around here, though, is the Great Blue Heron. Because we live on a nature preserve and have three lakes within site and a large river (not a bad lot for a new neighborhood!), we get Great Blue Herons all the time.

I've seen a bluebird twice at my current residence. Never seen one before.

I've seen in Hyde Park (Chicago), A colony of parrots living free, and they are rumored to have been there since a tornado ripped apart a pet store in Wheaton, IL, 30 or so years ago!

I don't like birds. They get caught in the Highwind's engines and leave a nasty-ass mess all over the side.

Saw a Bald Eagle right in the city a couple of days ago. Never saw one in my many years in the East though.

talking of birds, i currently have a kestral that keeps visitin my garden to kill a few sparrows, it's quite cool how fast it can move, it always eats on my spider plants pot.! !!

I love seeing the Blue Herons every day on my way to school. Plus, I stop and play with the sea gulls.
