I was about to leave the house this afternoon when I suddenly remembered that on this date last year on a shopping trip, (my plan for today), I was mugged and my handbag was stolen in broad daylight which left me shaking like the proverbial leaf. I thought perhaps I should stay home. Then I thought that was stupid magical thinking, and off I went.

Arrrghhhh! I was driving along in a wholly law abiding fashion when someone suddenly backed out of a parking space and crunched into the side of my car despite my frantic use of the horn! Result: both the other driver and myself shaking like leaves!! ! And my beautiful car looking rather sad with side damage crunched inward!

Fortunately she accepted full responsibility, was insured and quite nice about it. Next year, I will stay home :) :) :)

Sometimes you just have to trust those gut feeling vibes..

At least you're ok!

Yes that's the main thing, isn't it? (Things are just things at the end of the day, and the world is never short of things..)

So you had a flashback to a traumatic event, and this left you too distracted to notice the backup lights on someone else's car.

Nothing "magical" about it.

No. I noticed and frantically used the horn - she couldn't stop in time. I was there, Fnord, you weren't!

Wow, B19, I'm glad you're okay----and, I'm sorry about your beautiful car, getting squashed----parking lots can be BRUTAL, sometimes!!

Thanks CC. Funny that one of the reasons I have a bright red car is that it's the least likely coloured car to be hit by others given the high visibility (it's a cruisy sports car, people get a surprise to see an old lady like me get out of it lol!) Gave it to myself as a present after major surgery a couple of years ago, and I highly recommend it as post-illness therapy! Crossed that one off the bucket list: "buy sexy red sports car and have fun with it!" Given the $ outlay (I had owned cheap cars all my life until then), I also recommend this strategy for making oneself a much more careful motorist, it improved my care and attention as a driver no end!). It felt really strange the first time I drove it, being down so low, and my exercise programme is just getting in and out of it, that keeps my mid-section well exercised. My surgeon thought it was a marvellous idea (she was a very cool person, just loved having her looking after me, we became good friends). So this morning a lot of nice memories, despite only a few hours sleep I have woken up looking on the bright side (haven't been out to look at the car though, that painful sight can wait!)

:)
