please help me. i seem to do too much to a painting, like i have to finnish it that day. if i dont, i feel like i wont remember to add something to it to make it beautiful, thus i ruin it. by doing to much to it to finnish it, that day. how do i stop this? how do i stay satisfied with saying alright now stop and pickup where you left off tomorrow?

I remember drawing classes where the assignments were 2 minutes or 6 minutes etc. When time was up, it was up. Learning to stop is serious business. All I can think of is setting a timer and obeying it. Those little 2 minutes sessions made me be sort of devil-may-care about it - there's no time to think about whether it's good or if it needs something. No time to worry about blank paper either. Just do it and stop. I hope the exercise might work for you?

yes learning to stop is serious business. your sugjestion about the eggtimer is a good idea ima give that a try. and actually stop when it goes off. i'm really a good painter i just do to much to a painting, to try and get it done that day. i'm going to look through my photobucket to see if i have any of my paintings to post in this thread.

heres a painting i did last year of the mountains up here where i live, this isnt a good example of me doing to much to a painting but its the only one i had in my photobucket saved.

but usually i'll ruin ever one i do, because of time constraints.

My problem is finishing a painting. I get a great idea for something beautiful, and I do about half of it, then I lose motivation so I stop.

that would be the opposite of me, i can finnish a painting in no time, i just ruin it because i want to get it done.

How about naming the next one Unfinished #1 ?
