I see a sort of gold/bronzish striping on a quasi-fluorescent violet-ey whitish background.

I know for a fact that it is gold and white. but some will say the white is blue because the white balance is off on the camera.

I chose "blue and gold" but I see the blue as really more of a violet/mauve.

I wonder what is the deal with the strangeness of that pic?

It changes for me...

Sometimes I see a dark bronze and purple, other times I see a bronze and white.

It will mostly be dark bronze and purple, but sometimes I can scroll past it, then back up to it and it is bronze and white.

1st color according to the color meter:
R: 120
G: 110
B: 79

2nd color:
R: 161
G: 170
B: 202

In the picture the dress is white and gold. However I've seen the dress in real life, and it is blue and black. The camera's sensors were not calibrated to correctly capture it's surroundings and this is not the original photo that sparked the debate. The original photo was much darker.

In a sense people who say either are both right.

maybe the poll would be nicer if it said "tell me what colors the dress SEEMS TO YOURSELF to be."

I'm trying to see the gold as black. I really am.
But all I see it gold, and white that looks blue in the lighting.

To add more to the fun:

That's the dress as it originally appeared in the site it was being sold from.

Ha! They should have advertised a white and gold dress like that too, just to mess with everyone. ;)

Even though the dress itself is black and blue, I see the photo as being brown and light blue.

I *know* for a fact that the dress is supposed to be black and blue in real life, but I'm seeing white and gold in the picture. :P

I was gonna say "it LOOKS grayish blue with greenish gold strips. But its obviously really a white dress with gold strips photographed in bad light".

So in reality it's a dark blue dress with black strips?

Fooled me.

I don't get how black turns into brownish gold.
