Invisible mummies were about to attack you, by ducking you brought your cat into view (cats are gaurdians of the underworld, a mummy's worst fear, as shown in The Mummy) which scared them off.

Remake, I presume. (I saw the original and didn't notice anything about felines, but then I admit I can't really remember much about the movie, except that Imhotep was the mummy's name in that too, and that the mummy wasn't always in bandages through the whole thing.)
