Random Thoughts and Musings...
This is generally a G-to-M15 (by the Australian OFLC system, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_Film_and_Literature_Classification_%28Australia%29) thread that deals with random musings and thoughts, basically a "What if I....?" or "Why....?"
thread.
There may be a lot of these threads already, but I've decided to make one up as a continuing thread. These thoughts may be answered, depending on whether the thoughts are rhetorical questions or not, etc. These may be of a philosophical or trivial nature.
Any thoughts or musings that aren't within my thoughts of what are considered admissable on the Random Discussion board will be deleted. In other words, keep the innuendo and violence to a minimum.
Hokay, here's a few of my thoughts and musings....
1. I recently listened to Otherworld, a heavy metal track that is from the game Final Fantasy X, and listening to the singer sort of half-screech, half-roar the lyrics, I got to wondering, how likely is it for singers, particularly heavy metal singers, to get respiratory diseases? And how come they can 'sing' like that (debatably singing) without coughing up their vocal cords?
2. Can anyone point out to me any other benefits of Blu-Ray DVDs other than better sound or picture quality? That seems fairly irrelevant to me, as DVDs seem good enough to me already.
3. Ian Fleming was pretty much a misogynist (he makes some fairly disturbing comments about women, esp in Casino Royale, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and The Spy Who Loved Me), and yet there are many cases where his James Bond books (in many cases) are leagues better than their movie counterparts. However, the recent adaptation of Casino Royale is actually above the Fleming novel in terms of quality....
4. That in a number of comedy groups/duos, there seems to be at least one gay member? Graham Chapman, Mark Gatiss, Stephen Fry and Matt Lucas spring to mind. Great comedians, they are...
5. How easy it is to actually slice something with a katana? In anime, they always have some sort of convention that a character with a sword can just whip the sword around quickly, then put it back in the scabbard and BANG! the sliced things/people just fall to bits....

I can answer the singing one.
I did say that....
Happy?
Oh, and another few musings...
In a mob of people, why does its overall IQ drop to room temperature? Is it possible to have a negative IQ, and have people in mobs that actually have negative intelligence?
Oh, and how many people here have felt this way?
Also, Samuel Vimes, one of the Discworld's most notable characters, is sometimes referred to as being constantly knurd and two drinks short of actual sobriety, which at least partially accounts for his depressive nature and tendency towards alcoholism—he started out looking for a cure to knurdness. It is also noted in the instance where Vimes gets knurd, that most people who ever get knurd make sure never to get knurd again.
Knurd written in reverse also spells "drunk".

I mused on this just yesterday, when I was at a family gathering with a fellow aspie who is quite bright. It was delightful to be in his company and I felt myself rising to the occasion, and noticed that I dumb myself down in NT company.
Can't answer your question, except to perhaps provide insight - NT's aren't all that bright and we're so used to being around them that even we sometimes adopt that "negative intelligence" ??
BUMPED.
After reading the Terry Pratchett novel Jingo, I found out that it was based on a real life incident, to a degree:

Makes you wonder what'd happen if a new island suddenly sprouted from the ocean in this day and age.... ![]()
