hi. every single day when i wake up it's the same story:

my head is so heavy, it's full of clouds and my body feels so heavy also. getting out of bed seems like getting from a nice warm lounge onto a World War 1 trench battlefield in the middle of a battle.

so often i'll wait until the verrrrry last minute before i have to go to school or work or whatever's on that morning - this means skipping my shower & breakfast & everything except clothes almost. in fact, more often than i'd like i'm late or in fact not going to school / work at all because i'd be too late. this messes me up in terms of falling behind, getting in trouble etc.

i used to be on anti-psychotic meds and i know this would have contributed to why i feel this way, but i haven't taken any in at least a year (thankfully - i really hate that stuff). i don't take any other drugs (except the odd headache pill), i only drink occassionally.

i try to get at least 8 hrs a night sleep.

really need help here. i'd like to jump out of bed everyday with a smile on my face... ON TIME.

anyone have advice / remedies / anything? it's all appreciated.

I know what you mean, I'm the same
I have no good advice though sorry, all I know that works for me is to force myself to get up as soon as I need to, because the longer I stay in bed after waking up, the less likely I am. So as soon as my mum tells me I need to get up I just get up now. I have no remedies though, unfortunately :(

This has always been a problem of mine too. The only thing that ever worked for me was to get up super early 5.30 - 6.00am - force myself out of bed (like no internal conversation like 'ooh but it feels sooo good in this bed...) just jump out.

If I make the effort I never regret getting up early, because I think it actually gives my head enough time to start to process the day ahead.

I don't have trouble waking up. My trouble is staying asleep. I often wake up at 4 a.m. (courtesy of my three male indoor cats, two of which have stereo meowing contests and the third who scratches on the door), two hours before my day officially begins. I spend the time reading.

Cats are the best alarm clocks in the world!

My cat sometimes wakes me up really early trying to get out of my room because she's hungry. She doesn't do it as much now though.

I like to get up as soon as I wake up, otherwise I will feel like I have 'wasted' time. Though of course sometimes I just feel like I weigh 2 tonnes and cannot pick myself up. At those times I say to myself "shuddup and geddup, weaklin'!" That always works. :P

I can get up at 5:30 a.m. to feed the dog, no problem. But getting up to go out, that doesn't happen - I'll sleep till tomorrow.

how many hours do you normally get a night? If I sleep too much it is hard for me to wake up...

Also I make Tea in the morning, which helps get me up because it has Caffeine in it. Also my mom gets me up before she goes to work, I take my medicine(Thyroid and Adderall) go back to bed,and the Adderall wakes me up 2 hours later...

It also helps if you have a good bed to sleep on. I'm not talking about Temper-Pedic or anything like that, but a nice firm mattress. It helps you rest better.

Another way to force yourself out of bed: Get a loud alarm clock, and place it on the other side of the room. That way you have to get out of bed anywho. Or get one that is complicated to turn off.(I had one on my computer, and I had to turn the monitor on, and actually find the off/snooze button onscreen to get it to turn off. this got my brain rolling somewhat.)

My cousin eventually progressed to a firebell that went off every morning at 7 a.m. - which she slept through. The neighbours were mightily annoyed.

Somebody invented a clock that *walks* - I remember now, it was an Engineering project that made the papers, don't know if it's on the market - you hit Snooze and it stops ringing and also "walks" about 3 feet at random angles. When it goes off again, you don't know where it is. You have to crawl out of bed and look for it. You hit Snooze again, go back to sleep. Ten minutes later it starts ringing again, and it has moved another 3 feet at random angles, and you have to search for it again. The alarm clock from hell. It should come with a matching hammer.

Don't underestimate dogs! :D
How do they know the time? Mine wakes me at 5:15 exactly.

Supposeably Animals are blind to time, and rely on cues. Maybe a neighbor starts around that time, or something in your pet's biochemistry sets it off?(like it's hungry?) Or your dog is really smart and knows how to read clocks. not so much digital as the traditional clock face.
