Right now my area is experiencing the most lengthy and violent windstorm ever. It's loud as hell and tons of things are falling over like crazy. It's been going on for hours which seems very unnatural. Anyone else from the Ohio/Pennsylvania area experiencing this?

I'm in the eastern part of Pennsylvania (Susquehanna Valley) there is not much
wind right now. That could change in the next few hours. It is very cold for this time
of year.

Check out the satellite pictures on NOAA.

In my house, wind is cause for celebration. In fact, there were two guys here this morning borrowing wind-surfing boards because it's windy here today too.

I had that last night, along with flooding, up in CT.
It's a nor'easter.

What is a nor'easter technically? I have heard the term before, but don't know the weather behind it.

Yeah, the winds are pretty harsh. The power went off in school and in town (ha, living in the country section pays off for once) for over two hours. It's kind of a pity, since otherwise it would be a nice day...The sky is clear and the tempratures (exluding wind chill) are fairly decent.

Of course, it's nowhere near as bad as that ice storm a couple years back. That was bad.

It's as bad as a thunder storm, with horrible rain and wind, but no thunder. Creates lots of flooding and impedes fishing.

...western pa. It's here too, since about 3 or 4 this afternoon...the whole house and the roof has been creaking with the blasts. Seems to be calming down a bit now though.

Glad that I wasn't there. Two years ago, half a tree fell on my roof. And a huge tree uprooted, and nearly landed on the gas pumps at a service station around the corner.
