I think I'm addicted to knitting

I taught myself how to knit a few weeks ago, and now I think I'm addicted to it. So far I've left my knitting at home, so I don't do it all day long, but I would if I had the opportunity. I think about knitting pretty frequently during the day, and whenever I'm not occupied with something else at home, I knit. I never really had any behavior that I would consider a "stim", but knitting is starting to sound like it could be one.

Ashland Co-op Willie knits like he is driven by the wind, I last saw him at our Aspie support group and he did a whole beret in the hour and a half! He does it because it calms him and it's his favorite stim.

When I first read the title, I read it as 'I think I'm addicted to killing'

I used to knit when I was a teenager - not the type of hobby you want though as a boy going to an all boys school . I did have the wit not to say anything though (for once)

Been there, done that....a couple of unfinished knitting projects will soon put you off!

Nope, I'm Jackie, not Willy. It's nice to know I'm not the only person addicted to knitting.

I'm still pretty much a beginner knitter. Last weekend I figured out rib knit, which is one reason I'm particularly hooked now. It's so amazing to see the pattern forming one row at a time. I love working with stripe yarn, too - you can see the color gradually changing in the yarn, but when you knit it all together, you just see big stripes and can't really see the point where the color change occurred. I can't wait to go home and knit tonight.

I crochet dollies...yep, those frilly things you find on grandma's table.

I don't use dollies, I'm not sure I even "like" dollies...I started doing them when I was in my 20's...they are easier to take along with you and work on than say an afghan, the thread is very easy to find and I love to crochet it's calming. I usually end up giving a bunch away every holiday or whenever I have a bunch laying around.

Knitting is harmless...if you start macrame, get a counsellor

Stimming is fun! I use to knit when I was a young lad. But know I just read, And boy am I addicted to it! I will read anything, as long as it is not Romance! I'm not shure if this is a typical stim though. Ohh ya, I just noticed I do my rocking! SO i THINK WE ASPIES ALL HAVE OUR STIMS THAT WORK FOR US!

There are worse things you could be addicted to I guess...

I tried knitting but would end up not being able to control the tight/loose thing and after a bit it would be so tight(the loops)that I couldnt get the yarn around the needle...little hard to explain.I have always loved repititive crafts.....beeding and cutting out pictures for collages are my favorites....very relaxing.

I used to knit from when I was about 7-8, and did so for about 10-12 years. Not something I readily used to admit to outside my immediate family though, seeing that I also wanted to join the army when I was old enough. Still consider taking it up again now and again as it's so relaxing....

My great uncle learnt to knit in india. He tought my Mom and my Nan. They can knit so fast it's unbelievable, they can knock out a jumper every week. They just sit there watching TV knitting away all day long. Not so much nowadays, the kids are grown up and they have nobody to knit for. When I look at photos of when I was younger, it makes me laugh, me and my brothers always wore knitted jumpers, some with our initial on them. My nan knitted me a jumper last year, it's very nice & warm. Good luck with the knitting, can I have a jumper

I never got on totally with knitting, but I used to love those dolly things you got to help you learn to knit as a child. I prefer cross stitch... I was totally addicted to that for a year or so. I did it from when I woke to sleep when I wasn't typing madly on my word processor. I never saw it as a stim, but then, I did not know a thing about AS back then. I just know it gave me intense satisfaction.
