A Facebook thing that really annoys me

The minute someone breaks up with their BF or GF, they go on their Facebook page and change their status from “in a relationship” to “single” and delete all the pictures of the person they were with.

It’s like, grow up!

I’m not going to label this an NT behavior, I would assume Aspies do it too.

I thought that that was the whole point of having the option to change relationship statuses.

You know what's even more annoying than that? When people "like" their own status. It's like, duh, of course you like your own status. Why else would you post it?

I understand changing their relationship status. Deleting all the pictures seems pretty pointless, though...it doesn't change the fact that the relationship happened.

I like having some arm candy in my pictures. Even if she is a manipulative needy little.... People are shallow i'm sad to say. especially when their emotions are involved.

Facebook was created basically for this reason, it's just something you have to live with if you use the site.

My ex deleted every picture of me on her facebook the second we broke up. I didn't even have copies of some of those pictures. Grrrr.

It seems like it's the FIRST THING people do, the minute they break up, is change their Facebook status. They may put off Christmas shopping, going on a diet, or getting their car repaired, for months... but when they get into a big fight with their signficant other, BOOM, onto Facebook to tell the world they're single.

I think it is pathetic. But then again, maybe it is a cry for a rebound. Could work in the favour of those without a consciencse (spl)

I...don't see the problem here, if I'm no longer associating myself with someone why would I leave pictures and statements (like relationship statuses) stating the contrary.

Example: you just break up with someone, you may change your status to single but you leave the pics on the page. A month or so passes by and you meet someone new they ask for your facebook page (strange as it may seem, facebook is an easy way to stay connected with people you know), which they then visit and see pictures of you with another guy/girl, they will see this and either think you're two-timing them, or they'll think you still haven't gotten over that person yet, which may lead to complications in your current relationship with them.

my ex changed her relationship status BEFORE calling me. Actually, I called her. I remember when calling to break up was considered bad. That wasnt some quick one either it got pretty serious.

And her dad(not her) wanted her to tell me what she did was not cool, I was like you god damn right that wasnt cool.

I don't really understand this behavior, either. Sure, change it when you break up, but you don't need to jump on facebook as soon as it occurs.

I think when some people do this they are doing it to get sympathy or attention. Generally, they are the people who post several status updates per day.

And some may be doing it to advertise they are open for dating, especially if there is a 'friend' who they wish to meet up with. I am certainly guilty of that.

I don't get your issue. If you've just broken up with someone, you wouldn't keep pictures of them around the house, you would try and move on. So why wouldn't that apply to Facebook?
