As someone who dislikes tumblr, but since i have been told i am too quick to judge i decided to make an account and try to get the "tumblr experience". When doing this i found some blog that actually arent super complaining and annoying, but the majority was.
As someone who has autism and is disabled i do understand that life isnt always easy but making a tumblr about "translating ableism" (i didnt know what that was until recently, apparently it is the "discrimination in favor of able-bodied people" (able bodied being non-disabled)) is very "ableist/entitled" of THEM. Now, about 1/10 is actually legit ableism, but the rest is just people being "butthurt" (over-reacting to something and being hurt about it).
One example of this is :
my dad to me all the time: if you ate healthier and exercised, you wouldnt be so depressed and anxious all the time!
-Anonymous
Translation: “If you follow my arbitrary diet and movement regimen, you’ll stop being disabled! Isn’t that magical?”

The thing is, exercise DOES help with depression*, changing your diet CAN help so its not completely unreasonable to say that, although it may not be too nicely said.

Tumblr is a good place for some things but i feel that most things regarding disabilities (especially autism (& depression and anxiety but not as much) is exaggerated.

Sure depression can be and is a big issue or even debilitating for many, but i wouldn't call it a disability (i can explain my thoughts on this in case anyone is interested). Being aware of how you say can be offensive is good, but saying that someone isn't allowed to say "huge" to describe something cause they have "trauma" connected to the word is simply ridiculous.
Sorry for the long rant, i have just had a hard time with trying to fit into the nice autism community on tumblr, but instead being bombarded with different people saying i am being offensive to x community.

*please note: i am depressed and those things have helped me a bit but not "fixed" them.
PS. If i am missing any "y"s it is becuase the key is semi broken on my keyboard (sorry).

That's the Internet, in a nutshell.

The INTERNET is so full of complainers.

Tumblr is the place for attention seeking.

True, although there are a few people just posting about their interests, but yes.

Yes, diet and exercise help with mood, but she is correct, it's not going to cure depression or anxiety and it's ableist to think it would. Yes, it was unreasonable for her father to say, as he specifically said it would cause her to stop being depressed.

If people are saying you are being offensive, LISTEN. Is it more important for you to use the word "huge", or to not hurt people?

As much as I love tumblr and use it everyday, there are some people on there that overreact and moan about unnecessary things. I just keep scrolling and ignore them. Most people in autistic community on tumblr are perfectly nice and reasonable people. Some are a little bit over the top and think every none disabled person is out to get them.

Weird.. the only thing I've ever seen on Tumblr is really hot gay porn. Hmm, maybe that's because it's the sole reason I even have a Tumblr account. :P :D

I thought that tumblr was a site where people showed off their interests to the world.

"complainers" is an interesting way of saying "a cesspool of degeneracy full of special snowflakes"

If i actually were being offensive, yes i would. But if people are just looking for random things to whine about and say the think its "hurtful" for people to use the word huge, they need to grow the f**k up.

Right after I was diagnosed, I joined a bunch of autism blogs. With few exceptions, they were disasters. Lots of misinformation and outright BS. Self-appointed "voices" for the autistic community that are more than happy to tell you what you better believe and agree with. You don't agree with them, you've got "internalized ableism."

Bloggers with echo chambers of cult-like followers. Some of them are frighteningly manipulative - one got several of their followers to fund cameras and computer equipment by going on about how the autistic community is "interdependent" and "we help each other out." Everyone reveling in their ton of labels, piously confessing their "privileges" and crowing about how they're oppressed. Some just outright make up stuff up for attention.

Lots of contempt and hate. A special fury seems to be NT parents of autistic kids who use any sort of therapy instead of letting their kids just be themselves. Oddly, another reservoir of hatred seems to be saved for people with Aspergers.

I'd read these things, and either get depressed or enraged. Questioning bloggers or trying to correct misinformation was seen as "bullying." I recently unfollowed most of them because they were so toxic.

I have much more fun looking at blogs on my special interests, which is something Tumblr's GREAT for. Obsessed with a minor character from a TV show? Here's 12 different blogs on that person that update frequently. Ahhh, much better.

No they aren't, you are in no position to say that. Again, LISTEN. Yes, sometimes what they are complaining about is rather trivial, but they are still complaining about it for a reason. You need to grow the f**k up.

They are complaining because that is the Tumblr culture (at least in this case) . Someone said "Ma'm" to you to be polite? well they are obviously ableist (cis)sexists. Someone pointed out that you calling a harmless grandparent "entitled" because they sent you a message and expected you to answer is a bit unfair to the grandparent and entitled of you? That person who pointed it out is of course being manipulative, passive aggressive and rude.
That is what I mean.
