Do you get any newspaper/s on paper ?
I am rather hurried here so this will be shorter than I planned - but , are you all " too modern " to get a " dated paper copy " ?

My parents maintain a subscription to the local newspaper. I go through phases where I read it, currently I don't unless I see a grabbing headline. I don't think I would purchase a subscription myself if I lived on my own. I can get news for free on the Internet. It's really about the money not the format.

No. I read online versions of the New York Times and Boston Globe, but that's a recent development. Before that I basically just followed online sources and pretty consistently read The Economist and Foreign Policy.

I'm already not the best at staying organized, so dealing with having a big newspaper everyday seems like a big hassle. I enjoy having physical copies of news magazines I like, like The Economist, Foreign Policy, and Foreign Affairs, but it's honestly a luxury. For the sake of efficiency and keeping things in order, electronic copies of everything tends to be preferable, unless there's something really notable in the issue that I think I'll hold onto.

Another thing is, now we're pretty aware of the biases of different news sources, so it is preferable to get things from a number of different sources... this is something the digital age really enables. To review, the New York Times is pretty much the gold standard of newspaper journalism and is great for keeping track of breaking world events. At the same time, it does have a very "establishment" perspective. Al Jazeera English does a lot of great stories especially on human rights, but it is rather left wing. Foreign Policy is a great, rather academic-influenced paper, but because of that it's pretty establishment. Foreign Affairs seems less beholden to establishment politics, but it's even more academic. The Economist is very much an establishment libertarian magazine, but on the plus side they're very transparent and honest about that. Libération is ultra-left wing.

The plus side of looking at a variety of sources is that you get different perspectives and analyses, and can form a better opinion. The downside, though, is that I think it's also becoming easier and easier to shut out perspectives we disagree with. Pretty much every source I pay attention to is either left wing, liberal, or libertarian. Because of this it's very easy to shut out conservative, right wing, and reactionary sources like Fox News, Breitbart, InfoWars, etc. because I have ZERO respect for them. But this means there's a fundamental disconnect between me and most right wingers in the country, even at the fundamental level of how we understand current events.
Another downside is I pay attention to events in world politics, because that's my interest. I'm interested in the arts (i.e. books, music, movies, etc.) and science, so I usually have a pretty good idea of what's happening in those realms. But I'm embarrassingly unknowledgeable about sports. And even in the arts, I know what's happening with, say, punk and indie rock, but I don't really have any idea what's happening with major pop stars, or even who many of them are. Again, this is because with the internet, I'm able to shut all of that out.

CHANGING TOPIC: ASS-P - have you looked into group homes? There are assisted living/group home set ups that I urge you to apply for. You're getting older, and it's clear you've had a very difficult time. I'm sure you're a good candidate for such homes. They should be able to help get you cleaned up, get some new teeth, and help you live more comfortably.

I rely on the Internet and occasionally radio for state/national/world news, but still find newspapers helpful for local news. Sometimes I go to the town library to read newspapers, but my cats enjoy sitting with me as I read books or papers (often on whatever I'm trying to read) so now and then I buy a newspaper to bring home to read.

I just read news on apps or occassionally local news on tv. I always hated newpapers. They were too large and I couldn't stand touching them.

...Briefly , Ameb ---- I think ythat , unfortunately , entering a group home might turn into never getting out . The end of my " effective " life . More on this later (also never seeing my brother again , either ) .

No, I do not, I try not to advocate the use of much paper anymore, so I use email and the Internet instead, I am all for trying to help reduce pollutions and save our environment and trees, I do not care if people are whining it will cost others jobs, the times and world needs to change for the benefit of all.

Sometimes I get a newspaper... either the local paper or otherwise. Just for something different, or if I spot an interesting article. I have in the past read Aboriginal newspapers, Muslim and Jewish ones, for perspective on different communities.

Yeah to analyze and amuse myself with, there's only a handful of newspapers I think that actually bestow useful information and even then it's few and far between. I also get very sad when I read about humans suffering, it's not even ''news'' when they single out a handful of people, there's countless handfuls more going through the same abject turbulences but it makes me very sad all the same to see pictures and names.

I buy physical copies of some local newspapers.

No, because I usually read the news on the net. That is a way easier for me.
