Do you need to wash new clothes before you wear them? I know you need to wash new sheets.

I do just incase there's chemicals on em or they have been handled by someone who's unsanitary.

I like everything new to be washed, with fabric softener, before I wear it.

Some dyes can be toxic, and I see a lot of dye come out of clothes if I wash them by hand the first time.

I wash them mostly because I don’t know who tried them on and to sort of break them in… I find new clothes stiff.

I do, typically. I find a lot of things come really stiff and I don't like that, so I wash things with extra fabric softener :D

no, I just heat them in the dryer and thats it.

I recently read an online article saying that it's advisable to wash a new garment before wearing it, as apparently the fabric can have chemical treatments for things like not just the dyes but also anti-wrinkle agents to help them stay looking good while on the rack in the store. Some of these can emit gases that can cause allergic skin reactions in some people.

There is also a chance that all the places those clothes have been, from the fabric storage to the factory to the warehouse to the store and left around changing rooms, may have picked up dirt and bugs hitching a ride, and it's just as well to run them through a wash.
