Hello, all, E2LA here. Obviously, a lot of you in the USA and those living in other countries are stunned over Donald Trump's sudden victory in yesterday's presidential election. But I have something to say to those who are naysayers, Debbie Downers, and cynics that say the the world will end.

Look at our country's history. There have been MANY presidents that were worse than Trump. Only time will tell as to what will happen, and we can only just wait and see. We have survived many such presidents like that (Bush Jr. being the most notable example in recent history [and we went down this road 16 years ago], and going farther back, James Buchanan and Warren G. Harding [look them both up if you have the time]), and if we can survive those guys, Trump will most likely be no exception. We've also survived through so many bad things as well, and if we can survive those kinds of things, we will endure through all that, too. (And looking at things in Canada, they survived NINE freakin' years of Stephen Harper!)

I won't change being my upbeat self in spite of what happened. I know that there's too much cynicism as well, but I quote Conan O'Brien: "All I ask of you is one thing: please don’t be cynical. I hate cynicism — it’s my least favorite quality and it doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard, and you’re kind, amazing things will happen."

On top of all this, despite the fact he has Congress as well, Donald Trump is ONLY one man. He can't get things done all by himself as president. The way I see things, our country and democracy is stronger than just ONE man.

Remember: There WILL be a light at the end of this tunnel, people. All is NOT by any means lost, we will endure through all this, and I know it may seem hard to do so in a time like this, but as I said above, don't be cynical and negative. The way I see things, the rebuilding has already begun. And by gosh, we will endure and not just survive, we will THRIVE. And, I, E2LA, will endure through all this as well, no matter what crap gets thrown our way. Giving in to fear is NEVER the answer. And don't lose faith in hope, EVER.

Peace be with all.

-E2LA

A quote about this election from Full Metal Alchemist's (an anime) Roy Mustang: “Nothing's perfect. The world's not perfect. But it's there for us, trying the best it can. That's what makes it so damn beautiful.”

i'd say "prepare for the worst, hope for the best". fear is the enemy, trump is only the catalyst

i have the impression that his worst legacy has already been perpetuated by his campaign itself (along with the opposing campaign as a reaction to it). now, president trump or no president trump, the masses are already overpolarized. that's what will really have to be dealt with

That and divided, I forget where I came across this information. But I hear around 40% of democrats of terrified of Republicans and their ideas. Vice versa with the other half. The U.S. has a huge us vs them mentality right now, and that is not sustainable.

inspirational soundtrack to "celebrate" the moment and the current state of affairs

lazy translation i just googled (wouldn't be right if it weren't lazy :)):

Quote:
I'm fed up

I've got a soft skin
In my bubble bath
I splash myself
It makes me laugh ..
My fish moves
In my bubble bath
I wrap myself up warmly , I
Tell him ..

I have no problems , I'm being lazy
No dizzy turns , I'm being lazy
In the water I bathe , this is what's important
Well at ease , in the air of time

I've got a soft skin
In my bubble bath
I burn under the shadow
Of bombs
Everything is a delight
Docile offense
I make a list
Of the things
That upset me

I'm fed up with those who cry
Who drive at 2 kilometers per hour only
Who moan & set themselves
To the idea of a set idea
I'm fed up with those who groan
With cheap extremists
Who see life all in black
Who drive me down in the dumps
I'm fed up with the big sister
Who weeps over everything & who cries
Fed up with rain , courgettes
That make me barf under my duvet
I'm fed up with these cynics
& In the meadows , crocus
I'm fed up with being fed up ! As well

I've got a soft skin
In my bubble bath
No earth
Tremors ..
I luxuriate
& Relax
It's my aquatic state
There's a sort of a snag ..
