Went shopping at my local Target store...after the transaction at the register, the cashier says "feel better" instead of "thank you". What the @#$% is that supposed to mean?

It meant you looked sick or miserable. Were you buying medicine?

Maybe you're weren't being bubbly and sunshiny enough to suit her.

It could have been an honest mistake, maybe that's not what she meant to say.

It could have just been some happy hippy sentiment just spreading a little positivity hoping people feel better.

It is a bit odd, though. Maybe you looked sad/dreary? It is an AS trait, after all, to have a sometimes blank and emotionless facial expression. Maybe they saw that and assumed you weren't feeling well/happy & thought they'd say something nice in hopes of improving your mood?

My mother used to get people she knew approaching her in public and asking if she was alright. She'd respond "I'm fine, why?" and now in hindsight discussing these stories we're very certain it's because she had a blank facial expression that was interpreted as her being sad or in shock or something - meanwhile, internally, she really was feeling just fine. He face just didn't show it.

perhaps you underperformed, maybe she wanted it to see it with more feeling and vigor! maybe while holding a skull and kneeling?.

on a serious note, you probably just looked ill or tired.
