Not afraid, just a pure dislike for people in the medical industry.

No, but I've always found dentist visits highly unpleasant. 8O

Yes until I switched dentist to
Dr. HARR(as in Ha Ha)

He was very gentle and understanding.

I had a very bad experience with a dentist as a kid. He gave me a root canal without the proper anesthetic and without telling me or my parents, who got the bill and a PTSD affected child. So yes, I am very afraid of dentists. I'm getting better though after finding a sympathetic dentist who is willing to use laughing gas on adults and actually understands what sensory issues are, which is unusual for medical professionals. I can now get through cleanings and filling adjustments without being sedated.

Not now as an adult, but I was deathly afraid of the dentist when I was a child, and one of my enduring memories from childhood was of a terrible scene I made there, crying and running away within the huge old house the practice was in.

I also never could figure out why my sister got given little gifts by the dentist every visit, but I never was.

As an adult I've recovered from the childhood trauma and I don't mind the experience at all now.

I hated going there as a kid but I wasn't exactly afraid of them. I still don't like going but it's not as bad as when i had braces so I can deal with it. I only had one cavity in my life so my teeth don't need much more than the usual cleaning & xRays.

I'm not afraid, per say, but I definitely get more anxious than normal around them.

My teeth are ruined through poor dental hygiene and reluctance to go to the dentist. The first ever visit as a 4-5 year old required 2 or 3 dental assistants. I much preferred it when they used gas,as they did when I was younger, rather than local anaesthetic .
I have had several occasions when they didn't use enough and I have felt what they are doing.

Having stuff stuck in my mouth is not my idea of fun, but I like the people who work at the dentist's office I go to and like to talk to them. I'd say my least favorite thing is having the tartar scraped off my teeth with that device that looks curiously like a miniature version of an Uzbekistani curved sword (scimitar).

I haven't been to one in a while but I tolerate them better than real doctors, right now I would have a lot of anxiety about them working on my teeth since they're so mangled with multiple impacted wisdom teeth. I'm afraid if they do surgery which will be needed eventually that they'll paralyze my face or screw up the nerves.

I've honestly never been afraid of the dentist....maybe I just take good care of my teeth and have never required any extensive dental surgery, but I've always found getting my teeth cleaned to be a relaxing experience.

A few years ago, I used to tolerate the dentist with only gas and air. At some point though I began to feel the drill and needed a needle in my mouth (the NHS has since stopped covering gas and air for dental purposes).

I've had some nasty experiences with the needle. Not only does the stuff taste metallic, it also hurts and one time the dentist accidentally nicked a nerve which felt like a bad electric shock.

I can't stand going to the dentist. I nearly had a panic attack the last time I had two fillings done, when they put this mask thing over my face. I'm not so good at brushing my teeth, though I do try.

Nope, not even as a child.I find it relaxing to have my fangs cleaned.Just like a crocodile lets little birds clean it's fangs.
Tomorrow I go in to have an oral surgeon remove a wisdom fang.I requested shots instead of gas.I prefer to be awake during medical procedures so I can monitor them.Maybe a trust issue?I wish they could put it on a screen so I could veiw what they were doing.

I don't much like the high-pitched sounds of dental instruments or the antiseptic smell of the practices but my dad was a dentist before he retired, and I've had so much work done over the years I grew to accept dentists as the unsung heroes they often prove to be. Ultimately their intervention meant the 3 sunken teeth I carried with me into adulthood (baby teeth that genetically have no adult tooth to replace them, so begin to submerge under the gum) ultimately wouldn't fuse with the bone of my jaw.
