business?

I hear they are coming up with cars that drive themselves so that way you wouldn't have to drive. That made me think it would make hotels go out of business because everyone would be sleeping in their cars while the car is driving it self. But I think bigger hotels like resorts would still be in business and upper hotels like the Red Lion or The Hilton because people will be traveling for business and stay in them or go on trips and stay in them for vacation.

What do you think? Do you think self drive cars could hurt the cheaper hotels' business like Motel 6 or Super 8 or Days Inn or any other private own hotels?

I wouldn't want to stay in hotels anymore if I can have my car drive itself, that would save us money for a room. I would just sleep in my car seat. But it would be years before everyone has a self drive car. Think of how long it took before everyone started carrying cell phones, my dad was one of the rare people who had one when I was a kid. Only business people used them.

I think sleeping in the seat of a car is very uncomfortable, so if I was going on a trip that would take over a day I'd still certainly want to stop by a motel or find somewhere to camp.

What if you wake up to find you've stopped off in the middle of nowhere because the car needs charging?

Motels wouldn't go out of business, they'd just evolve into overnight charging stops.

You already can sleep in your car without having a self driving car. All you got to do is park the car somewhere and then go to sleep in the car. The thing is, sleeping in a car is uncomfortable. Which is why people go to hotel rooms rather than just sleeping in their parked cars. self driving cars will not put motels out of business.

It's just going to drive you to places, it's not going to give you food or a decent bed to sleep in or a bathroom or shower or TV or internet. There's not a lot of space to even move. Maybe if they come out with driverless vans?

I think it would be really creepy to sleep in a car at night in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't really trust the car if was still going without any guidance. Like those GPS's people blindly follow, not knowing there's some kind of malfunction, and then finding themselves in the middle of Death Valley.
