Since we are now in the late 2010s what do you think the 2020s will be like?

I read up that the 1980s was influenced on the 1960s, the 90s was influenced on the 1970s and the 2000s was influenced on the 1980s.

So the 2020s will be similar to the 2000s in fashion and music etc?????

I see 70s fashion coming back in the shops. But yes, there will be the "2000s kids" coming of age and getting nostalgic over Hannah Montana, High School Musical and that jazz from the last decade.

It's going to be weird having a whole new generation with no recollection of 9/11, I wonder what they will think about it

They will be leaving school, entering their twenties, starting families...

Was the 90s really that similar to the 1970s? I don't think it was at all :?

Hopefully the economy won't mirror 2000 to 2010.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andrew-su ... 05426.html
The declines in payroll employment, the steep rise in unemployment and underemployment, and limited wage gains for those in the bottom and middle of the weekly wage distribution helped push down the real annual incomes of nearly all U.S. households. The median real annual income of U.S. households declined over the decade by $2,600 or 5%. This was the first time since the end of World War II that median household income failed to grow over an entire decade.

I remember there being a slight fashion for flares in the mid-90s but I don't recall much 70s influence on the decade.

I think the 90s were more similar to the 60s, but that's just me.

Granted that I didn't live in the first 2 decades of these and only was around for a few years in the 70's, but from what I know about the 50's, 60's and 70's as well as the 80's and 90's that I remember well all had different feels to them. I don't understand the comparison between them.

I always thought that also. There was a tie dye and round glasses trend for a while and then there was a mod look with female pop singers.

Maybe the original comment was referring to vibes of the decades. I remember in the mid 2000s when it was popular to wear 80s metal shirts and have glossy black hair. Like copying the hairdo style of the 80s band The Cure.
