WTH! No Leggings? That's Sexist!

My Ma just told me about this. I'm outraged! I wear leggings and I consider myself very fashionable and tasteful. My own Ma even wears leggings. I think this is sexist! Wth is wrong with some nice black leggings? They sure are not cheap (ex. Spanx). What is this world coming to?! Like the article says, the ones who enforce these rules are mostly men. What about shorts? Shorts show way more, but I guess it's OK since men wear those. The airlines should beg people to wear leggings because you sure can't hide any weapons in a pair of damn leggings! I think the airline really didn't want ANY women wearing leggings and when they got alot of backlash, they said it only was a rule for family members of employees riding on "passes". What a bunch of BS.

Now they say that leggings are welcome. The girl's father was allowed to board the plane and he was wearing shorts. What a bunch of hooey.

The girls were subject to the employee dress code since they were flying on a staff pass. It was about being seen as too casual while representing the company. If they were paying a regular fare, there wouldn't have been an issue.

I saw this the other day. It's ridiculous. Leggings are usually not see through or anything​ like that and are very tasteful.

Honestly, shorts are way more likely to be more revealing than leggings. Unless they are below knee length shorts​ which are super awesome.

Personally, I really hate to wear leggings because they are so skin tight it makes me feel like "I'm wearing nothing at all", to quote Ned Flanders, except I hate it and feel stupid but not sexy at all. I used to wear them when I worked out at a gym a few years ago, but one time I decided not to change back into my jeans and walked home. I never did that again!

But still, it doesn't seem right when it's still okay to wear shorts, which I also hate wearing, but soon they'll probably won't let you even do that. Or maybe just not short shorts because they can be *really* revealing.

Hmm... when I ran into this, it was through a friend on facebook ranting about it, which I feel compelled to quote. Keep in mind, she is liberal who fights for women's rights and hates Trump, so if anything she should be one to quickly tear down anything sexist:

I'm fine with the company making the rule as long as it doesn't include the public - just their employees and anyone using the "pass". Otherwise, I think it is singling out women. I guess my new top that I got for a pretty penny wouldn't be OK because it is cut up the back and shows my behind in a sexy tank top? Is that too risqué? Maybe not since I'd be sitting on my ass for most of the flight.

Which is precisely what happened in the first place -- two people using benefits from the company breaching the terms of the agreement for said benefits. It doesn't actually affect paying customers, nor had it ever done so. If it did, this issue would've erupted much MUCH sooner than this.

Hmm, this is actually quite a huge misunderstanding.

You see, I saw this story in the news a few days ago actually, the news which I watch with my mom every morning (I'm still a high school student), and since my mom was once an airplane hostess, she actually explained the real reason for this "no-leggings" thing, its nothing knew, you see. In fact its for a quite practical purpose. In the case of a plane crash or similar emergency, where fire and combustion are involved, leggings are very dangerous, the material that makes them when exposed to immense heat can essentially "melt" into your skin. Think of steaming hot tar, that is pretty much what leggings become when in a fire.

So just to be clear, this was not some sexist agenda, but merely a safety concern. Although I will agree that what actually occured certainly wasn't warranted and it could have been solved in a far better way.

Oh yes, so as a clarification, the reason why flight attendants and hostesses aren't allowed to wear leggings is of course the info stated above, the reason my mom knew this information is because they directly told her the reason why leggings weren't allowed on flight.
