why girls talk too much about their hair??

Every time a girl cuts her hair short she talks a lot about it, like it is a big thing.

From what I gather, for most NT girls, it is a big thing. It's part of their identity. Changes to hair indicate changes in how they see themselves and how they want the world to see them. There's also a lot of cultural meaning in hair, and that can play into it too.

there is this girl in my class who cut her hair short and she spent like a week or two talking about in every opportunity, it was extra annoying but i noticed that it's quite common

also, once i dyed my hair purple and a girl came to tell me i was so brave to do it... what's the point??

Changing your hair color is seen as a big change. Changing it to purple is very unusual, and can impact how potential romantic interests and employers and even strangers on the street see you. It's also a significant visual change to your image of you that would stand out every time you caught a glimpse of your own reflection.

I also have a very hard time understanding why they talk about it. It's hair. What's the big deal?

coloring it or styling differently is a relatively easy, striking yet impermanent way to mod your body as a form of self expression.

i knew a girl who changed it to blue during bouts of depression. she was unpredictable, a social butterfly, indecisive, and her constantly changing hair hues reflected that.

Betwixt makes good points....it's usually one of the first things we notice about people, it really makes an impression.

for people who love to make impressions, i guess it a big part of who they are...or who/what they want to be seen as, at least.

I dunno, this discussion just made that song come into my head.

Us guys(like me) usually aren't obsessed about hair until we start losing it. Then some of us(like me) research treatments for hair loss & try extreme methods to keep it(like I'm doing). I'd like to see how a typical hair obsessed women would react if she were losing her hair. My 1st girlfriend asked me if I would still love her if she lost her hair & she had no medical problems & barely mentioned her hair to me.

why guys lost hair?? it's because they don't take well care of it?? i mean, i know there is some genetic thing but couldn't it be prevented??

the guy I like is getting bald, he doesn't have hair in his back head anymore actually, he told that he only started to perceive it because of the rain lol

Teenage years were unbearable because of stuff like this. People would start a conversation about their hair or how drunk they'd been at some party, and my mind would be completely, utterly blank. I had no idea how to have a conversation about these things. My mind would go like 'so you changed your hair. I can see that. We both agree that you have changed your hair. Move on please?'

aggressive shampooing/vigorous towel drying, tight ponytails and chemicals seem to accelerate hair loss in guys, but nothing can beat genetics in the long run.

one of the factors leading to male pattern baldness, seems to be the gradual failure of stem cells in the scalp to differentiate into those that form follicle tissue.

guys love their hair too, trust me. it ain't just a girl thing.

Some of us guys lose our hair because of a genetic sensitivity to DHT which is a sort of byproduct of testosterone which is why women don't usually experience that type of hair loss. Rogaine is approved to treat it cuz it keeps the hair in it's growth cycle longer. The med Finasteride is approved because it helps lower DHT but those things aren't enough for some guys(like me). The only other thing that's really approved is hair transplants. I would look into that but I don't have the money or know where to get one around here. There's other extreme things guys can do but they aren't really approved.
