A 1000 journal for WP?

I just remembered this awesome project, by reading about it years ago - http://www.1000journals.com/about/
I don't know if it's still going on but seems to have fizzled out. It's now being recommended on "1001" for local organizations to start their own projects - which defeats the purpose, in my view. Part of the charm was diversity - they wend their way through different countries, cultures, languages, etc. Different people, some known, some strangers.
But it did make me wonder if this could work for wrong planet people. Circulate a journal through this site? It would still have that diversity, as people post here from everywhere potentially. Plus anyone connected to anyone through WP could be a contributor.
On the internet, even on blogs and social media (which I don't use, but am aware it can be a bit more comprehensive) it seems like people aren't real a lot of the time. Just words on a screen.
Perhaps I have been even more disconnected than usual recently, and other people seem like shapes in a fog, but it connected my mind back to this project and the real touch it had, being a physical object someone else has handled and contributed to in their own way.
Would anyone be in a WP 1000 journal?
