Any other aspies love to drive?
I was wondering if there are any other aspies and people with autism who love driving like I do and what car do you drive? I currently drive a 2010 Peugeot 207 1.4 turbo diesel, very reliable, my prized possession. I have been driving 3 years and absolutely love it, even driving 10 hours 550 miles journey across country to visit the highlands of Scotland. I do between 10,000 and 25,000 miles a year. When I'm feeling stressed I'll go for a drive round the country roads, turn off the radio and listen to the engine and turbo and it calms Me down. Motorways and busy places still stress the hell out of me so I tend to advoid cities as it causes me a lot of confusion and I still can't judge the speed of other cars so junctions can be hard. Driving didn't come naturally to me though like it did with everyone I know, I must have had 100+ lessons as the instructor would always talk to me while I was trying to concentrate, I couldn't focus on the road and put effort into a conversion at the same time. I passed 3rd time and now I'd say my driving is excellent and very confident. I have owned quite a few different cars in the last 3 years. my favourite being my 1986 Nissan k10, 1987 Volkswagen golf, 1993 Volkswagen golf.
