The mild winters. Don't get me wrong, it can and does get cold in the winter in the Southern states. But usually we had highs in the 70s even in January and February. It was so nice not having to worry about digging my car out or scrapping off the ice. In five years I never once had to shovel snow. When it did get cold, it was usually just a few days of high 30s to low 40s, and not the relentless winter long freezing temperatures of the Northern USA.

I now live in North Dakota because of my job with the USGS, and winter, which lasts from October to April, is like living on the dark side of the moon.

Ooops the title of this should have been something I DO miss lol. I'm not sure I can edit the title...mods can you do this?

I know how you feel Rainbow. I lived in south Louisiana till I moved in with my girlfriend in Vermont when I turned 30 & I'm 35 now. I HATED the heat & humidity down there that we had for half the year & my parents almost never let me put the heater bellow 77. Now I hate the winters that we have up here. I don't like walking in snow or ice & I don't like the cold. I like being able to wear shorts all the time which I still do in winter on days I don't go outside but I don't want to feel hot or cold while I do it. I have skin eczema & the heat & humidity in Louisiana was bad for it but wearing pants & long sleeves is also bad for it & the heater we have here is a floor furnace which drys out my skin can be hell on it sometimes.

North Dakota is one of the coldest lower 48 states. Oddly South Dakota is the coldest. But still. Its so cold its just not fit for humans.

I didn't mind the heat and humidity of Ole Miss so much. I got used to it.

I had to scrape ice off my truck a few times this winter... I get up really early, so it doesn’t get a chance to melt by the sun.

If only the state were not a quasi fascist third world hellhole existing within the USA....I never put an Obama sticker on my car there because that would have made it an instant target for both vandalism and police pulling me over.
