When I was young I thought some numbers had colours
I would close my eyes and think of a number .......and a colour would replace it.
I thought this was a thing like- whatever colour I thought was attached to a number so did everyone else.

For instance

9 is ALWAYS green 7 is a different kind of green
And 2 could be Blue or White
3 is red
8 is purple 11 is also purplish
19 is some type of teal
4 is black
5 is orange more yellow orange tho
20 is silver(silver-ish colour)!

ps. I can't see #1 and a few others also some aren't as clear or I don't even know what colour to verbalise them as-
etc etc.
maybe this is madness but does any of my colour association match with anyone elses

I have no synesthesia issues.

As a baseline, however, the EIA Color Code for Electronic Components is:

0 - Black
1 - Brown
2 - Red
3 - Orange
4 - Yellow
5 - Green
6 - Blue
7 - Violet
8 - Gray
9 - White

These are the associations I make between numbers and colors, but only because of my profession.

Thanks HA!
I assume there would be some "official" colour guide but I actually try very very hard to avoid researching that stuff because I dont want it to interfere with how I see numbers, weird! I know but I wanted to see other peoples own minds view of numbers to colours.

Ps. how could 9 be anything else other than green tho?
it's like the greenest of all the green on Earth. like when I see 9 I see trees, and grass and rustling bushes.

When I see a 9, I think of someone smiling.

I once did a memory course as part of training for a learning method to be marketed to schoolchildren. As part of the presentation we had to memorize rows of figures in two's.

It didn't involve colors, but linked each numeral from 0-9 with a letter or sound from the alphabet. We had to think of images which the sound brought to mind, and link the sets together as a story.

0 was s or z, 6 was g or j I think, 8 was b or p, 2 was n, 3 was m, 4 was r as far as I recall, 7 was L (bit rusty and can't recall 5 or 9 offhand)

It was fun though.

I have this.

1 = white
2 = blue
3 = yellow
4 = green
5 = white
6 = red
7 = green
8 = pink
9 = blue
0 = white

For some reason 10 is yellow and 11 is brown. But the numbers are still their own colours after that, for example 14 = white and green, 21 = blue and white, etc.

Not madness , sounds like Grapheme-Color Synesthesia

Quote:
Grapheme-Color Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon of seeing letters and numbers in colors. Graphemes such as letter “A” or number 3 elicit the perception of color. This color does not usually change over time.

The letters and numbers can also have a spatial arrangement in space. This type is called letter or number form synesthesia. Or they can be perceived as having a personality.

I think it also came about because of constant stimulation and early onset of associating certain numbers with colours
(whatever caused me to originally associate 9 and 7 as some sort of green, I'll never know) so as I got older when I would see a number I would "remember" what colour I thought of it as because the association/connection stuck over time..

it's not memory based though,(I have a shoddy one) but when I see the colour I would sort of challenge the accuracy of my mind by forcing other colors in the "sphere" and sometimes I would get confused but when it settles, it does so on the dominant one, the colour that my mind often selects. and when it's repeated it becomes like a learned behavior and thus the selected colour never changes for that particular number.
this is the best I can explain it.

I thought everyone associated numbers with certain colours
Though, I would be amazed to see someone who has the same set of numbers for colors as I do. because i don't believe its completely neuroloIical, i would like to think there were some external stimuli that had originally prompted me to associate ...say....the #8 with purple
in fact not just any purple BUT GRAPES!

I also see 7 as green.

Not colors, but I would always think of numbers as having genders. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, etc. are males, 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, 17, etc. are females. So I guess maybe even numbers and multiples of 5 are male. 9 may or may not be as well. Haven't thought about it like this in a while.

^ are there any numbers that don't identify as either female or male?
Any trans numbers?

Lol I don't know. I guess if I think 9 is female but it actually turns out to be male, then that would be a trans number?

Also I don't remember thinking about it for numbers past like 20 or so. Even though I would spend hours as a young child just walking in a circle counting up through the thousands.
