My Mum had an automated call as I think the contract is coming to an end. If it goes up we may have to say no. I don't mind too much myself, as I just immerse myself in my hobbies of trains or bicycles, but I am more concerned about you lot and everyone else on other sites I speak to.
I may still have internet access if all is good. My Mum does not understand the contract things and neither do I. Usually my youngest brother speaks to them to sort it out. He is good with that sort of thing. But he gets frustrated with us when we don't know what we are doing etc. He maybe exceptionally intelligent, but patience he does not always have! Haha! He is a very gifted person though. :)
He is the only person I know who passed exams highly without even bothering to study! He never went further then school though as when he tried college he saw straight through it as a money making scheme and pulled out after the first year. You can't pull the wool over his eyes. He is extremely bright and intelligent.

Anyway... I will be fine. I will enjoy my trains if I am not on here. It may never happen. Who knows! I only write this so if I seem to dissapear, everyone will know why.
I never have been able to work my tablet on those free wifi areas they have in towns... It all seems complicated to me. One of my nieces or nephews could make it work for me if I need to... But I would need to travel to one of the towns to do that. Not sure where free wifi actually is... Apart from coming out of a waste bin (Don't ask me why!) in a crowded tourist village near the sea about 45 or 50 miles from here. Crowded in the summer. Our local county council decided to buy three super waste bins costing something like £80,000 each that have free wifi and have security cameras to detect what litter is put in the bins!
Ooh. I can hear my Mum speaking on thw phone to the people. See how things go...!

Ammended. I am listening to one half of the conversation where the phone company don't know anything about it. They are puzzled who sent the automated phone call!

Sometimes just those little things make you happy.
Once you own a cellphone then you could use that for internet access too and use it temporary for a couple of days as accesspoint if DSL isn't working.

I gave my cellphone away. I was given a nice one, but without an income, I could not afford to buy credit for it, so when my brothers phone broke, I gave it to him to use instead.

The automated call... Is strange, as my neighbour has just come up the hill and called in. She has had the same call saying they are going to shut the line off. No one seems to be able to catch what the second half of the automated phonecall says, so no one knows what it is all about.

My net's due is about a week from now.

Since the deal here was I'm the one paying for it. Yet I didn't get any job or earned anything to pay it...

The people behind the call are scammers. They invite you to contact them by selecting one of the keys on your phone. I've never bothered to do this, so don't know the precise nature of the scam. They usually say something like 'This is a call from BT. This is to inform you that your internet service will be terminated by 12 noon today. For further information, press '1' now....'

I'm guessing that maybe they say you have an unpaid bill, and try to get you to transfer money to them. Or perhaps your call is transferred to an ultra-premium rate line, and they bill you for £30 or so by keeping you talking for a few minutes.

I was gonna say scam too. Sometimes those scammers want you to give them information. Your account number & details may need to be changed.
I've gotten a call 1ce like 7 years ago when I was half asleep from someone who said they were at Verizon(I have my cell phone service with them) & for some reason I don't remember I needed to provide them some details so they could fix or investigate something or give me some kinda deal. Anyways I gave it to them & then went back to sleep. My cell phone service wasn't working when I woke up so I called Verizon from our home phone. Anyways my phone service was transferred to a different phone. I didn't wanna admit I screwed up so I didn't mention anything about the call I got when I was asleep. The Verizon guy said that my service made a bunch of international calls which I don't have a plan for so I would of had to pay by the minute or something for each one if I had made them myself. He restored my service & said that those charges would be removed. Right after I got off the phone I changed my account details like password, SN or email, & I changed my pin number for the voicemail. When I got my bill I noticed I had been charged taxes for the international calls, even thou I had gotten a credit for the calls I didn't get a credit to cover the taxes. I called Verizon again & argued with them over the phone to get the taxes removed & then demanded a credit for my hassle. I didn't even consider asking for a credit the 1st time I called cuz i screwed up but the 1st guy said the calls or charges would be removed but he didn't get the damn taxes removed & I had to argue with the 2nd guy to get it done so I felt I deserved something for my hassle. The 2nd guy supposedly talked to his supervisor & then offered me a credit which I accepted. It wasn't a lot but it was something.

Since then I make a habit of never answering my phone unless it's a programed number or I'm expecting a call from a place that isn't programed in. I get lots of political calls, & lots of calls with a recorded message supposedly from online pharmacies trying to sell me meds like Viagra, Cialis, & Levitra, & lots of calls where they don't leave a message or I hear a weird sound on the voicemail or just hear a recorded message telling me to call back or press a number on my phone without hearing anything about what it's for. I'm not sure exactly what's happening with this robocall legislation here in the US but I really hope something actually gets done to crack down on this sh!t but I highly doubt it will. Our Do Not Call registry doesn't do jank & some people believe the companies & scammers get your number from the list so they can call you anyways.
