Why do people drive around lower gates at railroad crossings

I feel bad for the passengers in vehicles where the driver ignores the railroad crossing signals. The passengers can't control what the driver decides to do.

Hi NewTime,
People are so very impatient and to lose just 5 seconds of their life is a big deal for them. They think they are indestructible - but what they don't think of is that they will be dead in less than 5 seconds because of the stupidity.

Because there's so many dumb ways to die, and while *most* people wouldn't sell both their kidneys on the internet or take their helmets off in outer space, they do what is quite possibly the dumbest ways to die.
