Why do stalkers stalk? why does stalking get them off....
I was wondering if anyone was an expert on stalking and cyber stalking?
Just out of interest, i was wondering if any one knew why people liked to stalk so much.
I have been a victim of being cyber stalked and to some extent, being physically stalked for a number of years by a number of people ( i live on a small island that makes it easy for sociopaths to stalk their victims, especially with the use of GPS tracking, ISP monitoring, cyberstalking programs, eavesdropping apps, hacking and data analytic programs)
Some, whom i believe had stalked me while i was at Uni. Who were involved in theft of my intellectual and creative copyright works.
One guy even stalked me onto forums that i frequented, in order to try and create evidence on these forums, as proof that the ideas that he copied from my email and hard drives, were his. Or in some vein attempt to set up evidence that he was the rightful author of the projects that i was presently working on that were in the process of being completed.
One of the guys who had a back ground as an amateur drummer, after copying the work from my hard drives, decided to reinvent himself as a composer / EDM producer, even though he had never owned a synth and never produced a track. Just taking credit for the music i made.
What made this particularly bad is that i do not come from a wealthy background, am self taught with it comes to music, and am rigidly honest. So all that i have, i had to pay for as i would not steal a penny from anyone.
And the guy in question, who stole from me, came from a privileged background. One other guy, who did the same, basically was so spoilt, that his father basically brought him a pro recording studio to work in once he dropped out the course he was on (which i was on too).
Nonetheless, apart from the industrial espionage aspect, i think there is some form of sociopathic / abuse element to the stalking. A kind of pathetic "power" bit like a private school rich kid "insider joke" that some spoilt abusive sociopaths are into.
Nonetheless, i have to say that i find the entire cyberstalking / stalking thing very cowardly and spineless.
Even ninja's at least take out the people who they stalk, with ninja throwing stars and their ninja swords.
I figure cyberstalking is similar to being a peeping tom or something. something that is very spineless and perverted about it. A kind of snide spoilt kid type of thing, having access to software that allows a person to abuse other covertly.
Hardly the coolest thing a person can do. certainly. doesn't make a person a ninja, secret agent or even a hacker.
(what's that term real hackers use.... that's it, "script monkey", although most cyberstalkers aren't even that clever. Like my ex-wife, just because she can fake a posh accent, doesn't mean she's got a high IQ or class. in fact, her behaviour consistently proves the opposite)...
Anyway, any criminal psychologists out there have any interesting statements on cyberstalkers.
Would be interested to learn, is it cause they think they have some form of control over a person?...
Really bizarre... Like Arnold Lane from the Pink Floyd song, just some kind of weird pervy behaviour.
• A deeply-rooted "need" for control over over the victim. The stalker may be a sexual predator, seeking gratification, control, and violence. The stalker may not personally know the victim, and the victim may not know he or she is being stalked. The predator plans the attack, rehearses it, has lots of sexual fantasies about it.
• A malformed and over-reaching sense of entitlement toward the victim. The stalker may resent the victim's popularity, and feel some sense of righteousness for bringing the victim down to "normal" levels. The stalker may feel that the victim somehow 'owes' the stalker attention and/or sexual intimacy.
• Mental illness (i.e., bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, psychopathy, et cetera). The stalker may be deluded - believing that the victim is in love with the stalker, and cannot openly express that love for whatever reason, resorting to 'coded' messages that only the stalker can see or hear. The stalker may have been rejected at least once, and not necessarily by the victim. The stalker feels insulted and somehow "wounded", and wants revenge against those who rejected the stalker and anyone like them.
• Poor social skills (e.g., few or no friends, spotty employment record, little or no dating, poor family relations, et cetera). The stalker may be socially backward, and doesn't really understand the social rules involved in dating and romance. The stalker may try to make contact with the victim repeatedly (i.e., electronic mail, hand-written notes, private messaging, telephoning, texting, et cetera), even after the victim has told the stalker to stop. The stalker may haunt the victim's workplace and neighborhood, and the places where the victim normally shops and socializes.

In a former workplace, one of the security guards was a stalker. He had several women he liked to follow all around, using the building's security cameras to find them wherever they went. Nobody liked him, but the guys all found the situation hilarious, so he got away with it for two years before he finally got fired.
From what I could tell he had low self esteem and a lot of mental issues, and I think doing this made him feel more powerful. The more afraid he could make someone, the more he seemed to enjoy it.

I guess they let him get away with it because he was ill.

I've been accused of cyber stalking for checking people's social media daily & for checking their watched posts on forums daily. Two were my ex girlfriends & I still really cared about them & loved them even after we broke up. I still love them & care about them but haven't checked for anything by either of them in a VERY LONG time. The other is a celebrity I have a mega huge crush on. I become obsessed with women I'm attracted to & love.
As for as why other people stalk, some are suffering from the delusional disorder Erotomania. They believe the person they are stalking is in love with them even thou that person has done nothing to indicate they were & that person may of even told their stalker to back off.

I think that is normal. Lot of people do it and it's public so it's not stalking per say. But we call it that anyway. But pretty much everyone will say stalking your ex's posts and online profiles isn't healthy and you should block them and never read their stuff as a way to move on.
