Here we call it rubbish...

I never forget something I heard which was amusing. About twenty years ago in New York they had their garbage men on strike. Times square was said to be a large heap of rubbish. It was around Christmas time. One man didn't know what to do with his rubbish. He had an idea. He managed to put all his rubbish into a large cardboard box. He wrapped the box in Christmas wrapping paper so it looked like a present. He placed the box in the back of his car, left the car door open and he then went inside his house for a little while. Then he noticed. Someone had stolen the box. He went outside, locked his car... Job done!

Have you heard of any similar things happen? Maybe with a different subject? Any amusing stories?

Yes. I think there are loads of jokes out there on this subject, about particular areas.
In the UK, the city of Liverpool has a reputation.

Not sure why the people of Liverpool have ended up with this reputation. Although in this day and age, it does appear to not only be Liverpool but almost all big cities that have similar problems.

Whether that is due to a drop in moral standards, of the rise of addictive drugs which cost considerable money to maintain use of. Shame really, as life was a lot better when people were more honest.

Don't get me wrong, i am not massively puritanical, in fact, seen how that can be, can't say that is fun either.
But in the middle is the sweet spot, neither too puritanical nor too criminal. Just honest.

Some of my little waggons are made from things that are normally thrown away.

Stuff for the garden mostly.
Made a couple of punched tin wall shelves for plants and your general tin planters out of oil cans.

For me, it is for my trains... I make waggons and things like that. Rusty tin makes ideal waggon bodies. I also use lollypop sticks, tea stirers etc.

I can turn rubbish into gold. If you feel like garbage, I can make you glitter.

Raleigh,

You're a good person and fellow cat lover! Anyone who loves cats (and animals in general) is a good person in my book!

The notorious 1977 NYC garbage strike at least inspired this cool record by Lou Rawls (assisted by other soul luminaries like Teddy Pendergrass), that amounts to a kind of proto rap song from a year before the Sugar Hill gang's hit "Rapper's Delight" became the first rap record to hit the charts.
