And what happened when they did? Did another mod believe you when they made posts under your account? Were they inflammatory posts or just goofy posts or troll posts?

If this ever happens to me, I will just hope they will quickly find out it's not me but some bored hacker who had decided to jump on my account out of nowhere.
It's not as popular as it was, like, 10 years ago. The internet has new places for bored people now.

I've only ever had someone hack my itunes account. Apple was horrible in their handling of the problem. They kept asking the person who stole it, if I could change my password. I ended up having to get a new Credit card and closing my accounts with them (losing all my music and apps and movies)

I haven't bought any media from Apple or any of their devices again since.

No hacker is ever going to log into a forum account, only ones who will would be someone who doesn't like you has really hates you so they silently bully you without you even knowing. That is why you must never have a password that is related to your interests or where you were born, anything about you. It must be random letters and words or symbols too.

Also they can check your IP and they will see two different IP locations. If they refuse, I think that is laziness on their part and I would mostly blame the mods than the hacker. I would also think they didn't like you to begin with so they needed a reason to boot you or to use as ammo against you.

Some Russian hacker once logged into my Facebook and I immediately changed my password. I have no personal information on my FB account, no credit card numbers so I have nothing they want. These days accounts sent you a email for security alert to let you know someone has logged into your account and from what location and device. Too bad forums don't have that feature yet. Google account has that feature and Microsoft and Facebook.

I have no idea if anyone has ever logged into my WP account under my other account, if they had, that would explain the problems I had. I know I have been impersonated because I found one of the accounts in 2007 after someone brought it up and found out about another in 2011 or 2012. I never created a new account under my old one to contact the mods. And the old mods thought it was me and some others knew it wasn't. Couldn't be bothered to check the IPs I guess and the fact I had moved several times in one year so they would have a reason to think they were me. But I think an IP location from way far away would be a indicator it wasn't me. But I don't think they could be bothered to check.

Just out of interest. Is this something that worries you?
I guess if you spend a lot of time hanging out on a forum and have good relations with the people who frequent
then sure, i can see why that would worry you (if it does).

Although i would say that it must be rare.

I think that cyber stalking is far more common, i know i have been stalked loads of times before.
Just cowards gas lighting or something, trying to intimidate or make me paranoid.
But they waste their time. as the old saying goes, you can't make someone mad if they were mad before you started....
cant turn water into water.... or fire into fire.... lol
so if they try they are wasting their time...

I have anxiety so I get random thoughts. I don't know if this is one of them. I am not worried right now about this happening because I don't use any passwords that are related to me or to my interests. I used to though but I stopped doing that.

My worst fear would be a troll coming back and decided to use the same username as me or something similar and the mods thinking it is me. If that happened, it would be a troll that has known me from somewhere and it could be a long time banned member from here.

I found this:

https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=190381

read #3 and 4 and that is what sparked this thread.

Oh, no! A Russian hacker might be interested in my account name, since it refers to a Russian tennis player!

OMG he was serious. I just decided to read that thread.

I remembered I accidentally made posts here under my ex's account when we were living together. I would forget he was logged in when I would use his computer.

I never noticed anyone ever logging into my account. However on one of the 1st forums I started using after I got the net, there was a troll who kept creating SNs that looked almost like other posters SNs & you had to pay attention to notice the differences sometimes. That troll created an SN that looked almost like mine & made troll posts with it. The forum was NOT really monitored & went down a bit after that sh!t started. I wonder if the trolling was a big factor as to why.

Mate that gives me a lot more respect for you, I thought you'd decided to attention seek through self deprecation. Sorry about that assumption!

You should always respect Ezra. He knows what’s up.
