Personal preferences in bags and backpacks
I usually prefer a backpack, because it's very convenient and keeps me hands free. A side bag is more likely to fall off than a backpack because it doesn't sit in a stable position on your body. Also, for some reason, it appears to me as if side bags were meant for women more, and backpacks are more meant for men, even though that might not be an accurate statement, especially considering I have seen both genders with both types of bags, and even other types of bags.
But, I was wondering what everyone around here on the forums prefers. Also, I was wondering what's the size of the bag you're taking with you is. Do you take a large bag or backpack so you can take a lot of things with you, or you don't need that many things, if at all?
I remember back when I used a side bag for a short time, it was so uncomfortable and my shoulders were hurt. However, my back never hurts when I use a backpack, even though I can appear as a college student to some people by doing so, even though I'm not in college at the moment. This confusion of me being a college student just because I use a backpack, can be annoying and frustrating to encounter, with other people.
Have you guys, those of you who use a backpack, have you ever encountered other people who have thought you are a college student because of that, even though you arent?
It can be quite interesting sometimes, but I haven't given it much thought until recently, to be honest.

I currently live in the city in a progressive state & I see lots of people with all types of bags. I prefer to carry a side bag than use a backpack. I sometimes bump into things when I turn while wearing a backpack & a backpack can be hard on my back & my shoulder especially when the weight isn't balanced well so there's a lot more on one side. There are times where I have to wear a backpack thou cuz I may not have the free hand & arm. For example our apartment doesn't have a washer & dryer & the laundromat is close by. We don't drive so we have to walk. We put the cloths in our travel bags which get heavy to pull & move around when they're full so we put the laundry supplies in a backpack in order to use both our hands/arms. We also usually bring a backpack when we do a major shopping trip cuz we take the bus & may have to do a little walking. We can only carry a couple bags at a time so some stuff gets put in a backpack which allows us to carry & get more stuff.
